Located in Triplicane, devoted to Lord shiva it's a Rahu Ketu sthalam temple of chennai. Legend Thiruvateeshwarar has been mentioned in Thevaram that this temple is 1000years old. The belief is those who visit this temple are equivalent to visiting Kalahasthi and Varanasi. It is called as Vaippu sthalam, while the sacred pond near the temple is called Shenbaga theertham. Besides there are separate shrines for Kashi Vishwanathar, Murugar and Vinayagar. The unique fact of the temple is you get to worship Adhikara nandhi. Belief is lord is worshipped with artha Jama flower while Goddess here is called as Sri Shenbagambigai.
I visited early in the morning and took beach road from adyar. So if you are visiting Sri Parthasarathy temple 8 minutes away is this temple.

Always an excellent place for devotional spend. From childhood this has been a favourite spot for our family to spend quality time. Now the pond is dry to the core. If the authorities take step to clear the gutter so that when it rains the pond automatically gets filled up. Lord Muruga should give them the wisdom to do so before the rainy season.
This is Shiva Temple. This temple is located very near (opposite to) Triplicane Post Office. Less than 5 mins, walkable distance.
Though very near to Triplicane high road, it's a serene place.
If you visit this temple in the early mornings, you can really feel the inner calmness.
There a garden being maintained by local volunteers.
What I feel sad about this temple is that, the inside walls are being covered with granite stones, hiding many scripts. Somebody who donated these stones may think of different form of donation / help.
