The shire - Home Stay in Gangtok - East District, India

Beautiful place, amazing view, neat and clean, reasonable rates and wonderful people. The food was amazing we get to eat there traditional dishes. We got to sit with the family and had an awesome talk about the culture and tradition of Sikkim. Thanks a lot Tempa karma family for hosting us as your own family guest.

karma is great host and really humble.. the staff at house are also lovely people. i was on a solo trip but it was very safe and comfortable stay. you can hear birds chirping in the morning. bit inside from main market but if you want calmness and nature view, this should be in your top list. definitely recommended!

We had a wonderful stay at the Shire. The rooms are cozy and the vibe is very calm and peaceful. It has a beautiful garden with good views and brightens up the mornings. They also provide some authentic wholesome home cooked meals and the service is excellent. It is at around 15 mins walking distance from mg road but the walk is quite steep. However there are shared taxis available if needed and you could enquire about the same.

The shire is a wonderful homestay. Karma and his mother are just amazing as hosts. They're extremely humble and down to earth. The lawn is so beautiful with orange trees and creepers. Their food and services are top notch. Highly recommend you all to opt for this homestay given the chance!

We stayed at the Shire for 4 nights last week and it was a great experience. The rooms where clean and the food was delicious- veg, non- veg and local cuisine. They have a lovely garden open to sky with a view of Gangtok city. The host and his mother did everything to make our stay memorable and the conversations around their culture, traditions and lifestyle were interesting. A must visit homestay if you want to experience hospitality at its best.

I was amazed by the beauty of this homestay. You not only experience the simplicity of the local hospitality but also get to see the richness of Sikkimese lifestyle. The look and feel of this homestay is as good as any 5 star hotel, mostly because of the opulent furniture, cutlery, paintings and the plants. We paid a reasonable amount for all this and the owner was kind enough to accommodate us in the deluxe room despite the standard room booking. (PS - it may not happen during peak season) we had a beautiful view from our room and the icing on the cake was the K2 view right from their lawn!! They serve very good English breakfast at affordable prices. The only thing we felt was the dinner could have been of little less cost. One thing to be noted, they serve simple and tasty organic meals and be very mindful to eat light as it will keep you going in your hectic drives to north sikkim. Last point, the location is little down in Arithang area of Gangtok, so that may bother you unless you are a fitness freak like me :) I absolutely loved my stay here, the family is doing an amazing job at maintaining this place save sometime for this peaceful homestay tucked in a cozy corner of Gangtok. They have a nice.lobby with a mini library. You can't get enough of this place!! Thank you for my wonderful time here

best home stay ever I had... Lovely Mam taking care for your food and stay. The lovish home garden and the lovely smell of rat Rani flowers makes you moody. Calm and silent peace. Really great lovely environment. Will love to come back stay here always..

Beautiful place to stay at Gangtok with lots of greenery around. If your luck permits, you can enjoy your cup of tea or coffee while watching " Sleeping Buddha" at the lawn. Nice n cozy place with great homemade food. Above all, the behaviour of Tempa family is awesome. I'ld highly recommend this place for stay
