The Lantern - Cantonese restaurant in Bengaluru - Bengaluru Urban, India

We decided to go to The Lantern as it was listed on Dineout. For starters, we ordered Chicken Shumai Dim Sums and Crispy Chilly Chicken. For main course, we had Black Pepper Chicken and Signature XO Fried Rice. The food was uniformly excellent. The quantity of the main course, especially the chicken was sufficient for 2 people. The service was exemplary. We got recommendations for the dishes to order and regular check ins on how the food was. At the end, the restaurant gave us a small cake because of the special occasion which was a very nice gesture. Overall, we had a great experience at The Lantern.

Expectations change with price, generally. Given the high price of this restaurant, I was disappointed with the quality of the meal. It was reasonably good, but not great. The dishes we had were standard Indo-Chinese and lacked the uniqueness I expected. The assorted vegetarian dim sum was the best dish. The ambience is nice and there is limited seating which makes the dining experience better than a large restaurant.

5 stars for the ambience and the exceptionally great service. special mention about Hugo chattange who took our order and made our visit pleasant and comfortable. food as well as drinks menu are vast. do check with the waiters if you want to know exactly what's in your dish . they have a good idea of what they are serving. good to inform them earlier i you are visiting for birthday/anniversary. they make special arrangement for you on their own.

Visited for a weekday dinner with my spouse. The request to have the table decorated with candles and flowers was followed and the waitress was kind enough to walk us to our seating The staff in general was polite and patient explaining the menu and recommending the signature dishes We ordered the chicken coriander dumplings and soup for starter. Baring the quantity of the dishes, everything was spectacular, this place is particularly known for their dumpling basket so do try that out We ordered the wok noodles with kung pao chicken for the mains. Loved the noodles, very fresh and perfectly seasoned. The chicken was well cooked but the sauce was too sweet and had overload of cashews For dessert we ordered the tender coconut ice cream which was delectable Overall a classic fine dining experience where the services trump over portion size. I won't call it the best Marriott restaurant experience I have had but just for the overall experience, worth a try Cost for 2: INR 4000 approx

There's better food & drinks at other restaurants. Quality of both food & drinks left much to be desired. Food: Every savory dish was thickened with flour. Except for the sweet corn soup which wasn't. The fried rice & accompanying dishes were uniformly vland. The saving grace were the Udon noodles that had some flavor & taste. Drinks: Then don't have many of the liquors mentioned on the menu. The mixers were from an unknown brand & ruined the drinks completely. Ambience: The ambience is great but the chairs were super uncomfortable.

Excellent food!! Great ambience.. Service was a bit slow, but they made up for it.

Visited this place for the 2nd time after about a years gap and they still make good food. The cocktail with leeches was amazing. The food was great but the lava cake didn't really have lava in it. So hopefully they make it better next time.
