The Anchorage Guesthouse - Hotel in Shillong - East Khasi Hills, India

The place is beautiful and, has all the amenities you'd need. We had the Garden view room. There are cute dogs on the property, really enjoyed playing with them. The manager was really sweet and helpful with breakfast and other arrangements like dinner, local cab etc.

Had a lovely stay at this very centrally located, art-themed boutique guest house with a historic past; it was the Arunachal Museum in undivided Assam. We were welcomed to the guest house in May 2022 by blooming jacaranda trees and a rain-washed, colour-splashed flower garden. The bold paintings on the wall complemented the solid wooden floor boards and tall, majestic windows. The owners had some very good recommendations for little-known places to visit around Shillong and the work staff was friendly, polite and always ready to help. Overall, a very charming stay.

The rooms were dirty and bathroom commode was broken . Staff were very polite and nice . opened the main gate after 10pm also for us. Over all the location is great but the rooms were not that good for the price they charge .

We stayed at Anchorage in October 2021. It was an excellent experience. Centrally located Anchorage is an old family home converted to a guest house with modern amenities. It has a touch of colonial life. Very clean, well behaved, polite, efficient staff.. Good food. Quiet and comfortable place right on the busiest street of Shillong. An un manicured garden gives you a natural feeling. A word of caution- be careful on the foot carpets laid near the beds on excellemtly polished wooden floors. Slippery indeed but that was house old mansions were mentioned in the past.

I booked this guest house for my stay in Shillong and it was a huge mistake. The owner was rude, inappropriate, unprofessional and everything a host shouldn't be. We weren't received by anyone once we reached the place. We had to go way inside the guest house to find a human being. They proceeded to show us rooms which were pretty but had a damp stink which could be because most places were closed during the pandemic. The manager and owner were both missing for us to express this issue to. The other staff present was clueless. So we asked for a refund so as to not waste more time. The owner is an elderly lady. I called her to express these concerns and she cut the call mid sentence. Reached the guest house minutes later only to ignore me and speak to the staff about me in front of me. Things like "it's not my problem if rhey didn't like the rooms". She went on to scream at us, say thing like "I know girls like you", "you keep quite", "don't teach me who my customers are". Her tone immediately became softer once my friend started speaking to her in Assamese. When I added to something my friend said, she yelled "you stay out of it". Overall a pretty place with potential but will prove to be a disturbing experience solely because of the owners and their refusal to solve problems while escalating them.

Loved this property in my last visit to Shillong with my wife. We stayed in the Frieda Kahlo room which is supposed to be the biggest of the lot. What I loved the most was the colonial feel of the property and its location. The staff and helpers were quite friendly.

Beautiful room and friendly staff but far too noisy, our room faced the main road and it was non-stop honking or ambulance sirens between 7AM and 9PM.

Great service and lovely rooms and garden. Ask them for Room 104. It's probably the best one in the guesthouse.
