If you are not sure how the tea powder is made from tea leaves, this is the must visit place if you are in Munnar. You will get step by step information of the entire tea powder making process. Also, All historical details related to tea from inception to current state in India are very well showcased with help pictures. There is option to buy tea, coffee, chocolates and souvenirs at the museum. The documentary related to Tea is also shown at this museum. Overall a good place to visit.
The museum is pretty basic and we were rushed through each step. In my opinion 125/head entry fee is little bit high. They show a 30min documentary which was okay and the tea making process which was interesting. Since there isn't much to do in Munnar, you could spend some time here. They also have a wide range of teas that you can shop from at a decent price.
For those who don't know anything about the tea plant or tea making process, this place would be a great place of knowledge. They portrayed many items which have some historic value. They will show the function of machinery i.e., the process of making tea and playing a documentary which is based on the lifestyle of tea planters. All is ok, but the entry fee is too high. At this price, the museum should be more organised and the guided tour should be more catching and exciting. Guides are mainly trying to convince you to buy tea packets from an outlet which is inside the museum. Even at the documentary show, if you are going late, then you might not get any chair to sit on. The items also need maintenance.
Entry fees for adults-125 per person. Good place to see old equipments used by Britishes for making Tea from leafs. Here 30 mints Demo will be given about the whole process.Individual can buy various types of tea like Ginger ,lemon ,rose and varieties in green tea also.
For those who do not know how tea is prepared, it is the perfect place. You are first directed to a video show which gives details of history of TATAs. No details of tea manufacturing were shown. Only the corporate presentation about the company was boring. You can skip it comfortably. It is better to go directly to the live demonstration of running machinery of tea manufacturing. It was too crowded when we visited. The upstairs lecture is also good. Then you are directed to the tea shop and tea testing area.
Not to miss this if you are in munnar...owned by tata tea brand ripple its is the place where you get to see how the tea is made from a leaf to the end product. The entry is for 125 for adults and 40 for kids and 20 for still camera. They will show you a 15 min film also about the history of tea farming in munnar. Then the factory visist and in the ends you can buy different varieties of tea of u are a tea lover. You can even enjoy a cup of tea before leaving. The view outside the museum is amazing for clicking photos.

This Tea museum is about the history and processing of Tea at Munnar.
