It is a little sad that this place is of immense historical importance, yet neglected completely. It could (and should) be developed into a prominent tourist attraction by adding an interesting museum related to Mughal history, especially Akbar. It will help with the upkeep, get government revenue and uplift surrounding areas economically.
Visited Takht e Akbari in Kalanaur where Mughal Emperor Akbar was sworn in as king. However very disappointed to see the state of same 1. This is an ASI heritage monument which is not looked after at all apart from board. 2. No one visits this I guess 3. The place is not developed as such and is a very small town 4. Needs restoration to become a good heritage site
If u r history freak nd a Mughal fan, u would love the place for the genuinely crafted platform once seated by Akbar the great.
It is a neglected historical monument craving for attention. This monument has great value as this was the place Akbar was coordinated as emperor of Hindustan. Its development would definitely boost border tourism in Kalanaur if Punjab tourism took steps in the direction. There is no proper road to this place due to encroachment by locals. All that's left is a platform reminding us of an important event that took place here years ago.
This is a world heritage place. But any Govt or department not worked for this place's maintenance. Anyway this place is belongs to The Great Akbar. I have visited many more times. Everytime feeling wonderful to see the these memories of old era.
Takht-i-Akbari has a great importance in the history of the Mughal Era.Around in 1655 Humayun died in Delhi and Teen Akbar was present in Kalanaur with Bairam Khan.Bairam Khan decided not to disclose about death of Humayun.Later in 1656,as per the Turk traditions,a masonry Takht was made and Akbar was made Shahanshah. This place was in shambles but presently it has been developed by ASI and Punjab Tourism Department.
Place is not maintained properly inspite of being of Historical importance,,,Located amidst the green lush farms it looks quite spectacular though...
Renovation undergoing to beautify this amazing place
