Surya Mandir is a temple dedicated to the Sun God, Surya. The temple was built in 2008 by the Sanskriti Vihar, a charitable trust. It is styled in the form of a huge chariot with 18 bedecked wheels and seven life-sized horses. The temple is made of white marble and red sandstone. The main sanctum sanctorum houses a 12-foot-tall statue of Surya. The temple also has a number of smaller shrines dedicated to other Hindu deities. Surya Mandir is a popular tourist destination. It is especially crowded during the Hindu festival of Chhath Puja, when devotees come to worship the Sun God.

Built like a chariot on the bank of Subarnarekha river, this temple will instantly bring peace to mind. We started our ghatshila sightseeing with this temple. Nice place.
Beautiful, quaint temple just beside the Subarnarekha river. The ghat beside goes down right upto the river and is quite clean. Overall a nice spot to spend a quiet morning.

This is a great place to visit. Seriously I had no idea that in the Subarnarekha river there is this beautiful temple which you can visit. The Surya idol in here is surely a treat to watch and the beautiful scenic beauty from here and the temple that replicates a Rath is superb.
