Neat historical place temple complex excavated by ASI. It is a quiet and peaceful place with few visitors. Small parking in front. Had a PWD guest house nearby. Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva
Review surang tila
Sirpur archaeological site in, Chattisgarh state of eastern India.
Sirpur or Sripura (city of auspiciousness, abundance) Referred to as "shree"pura, which according to historians & Archaeologists have relation to "Lakshmi". Sirpur is a major archaeological site along the Mahanadi River.
Sirpur was capital of Panduvanshi dynasty in ancient times. The village hosts the Sirpur Group of Monuments consisting of Buddhist, Hindu and Jain temples and monasteries. These are dated from the 5th to 12th century.
Beautiful place of historical importance it is carved and built of white and grey stone. At a height accessible by wide staircase built in stone, are located Lord Ganesha and Shivalinga of ancient time. Stairs may not be each to climb for old people.
Must visit place in Sirpur.
The temple complex is 1400 yrs old and still standing tall.Stairs are dicey and steep but on reaching the top five temples architecture and carvings are mind blowing
Its a beautiful n full photogenic place. Must visit in sirpur. Its a temple but the architecture here is really mesmerizing.
Surang Tila is a miracle on its own, this thousands of years old monument has also made it to an episode of History Tv, the shape of stairs is curved on both ends due to an earthquake, but the brilliant engineering helped to keep the structure intact. Must visit places in Sirpur.
Found this place while visiting sirpur....good place but during the visit the gates are closed ... don't know why
Very nice place
Stairs are not difficult to climb
It has a history of earthquake like situation 100 yrs ago, so the stairs has taken the bad curve shape
