SUMARU JUNGLE RESORT - Resort hotel in Madhya Madarihat, Khairbari Forest - Alipurduar, India

Good place to stay if you visit Jaldapara. However, I strongly recommend staying at one of the regular rooms, NOT the cottages. The sewage and exhaust system in the cottages is not that great, so the bathrooms are smelly. We also had a mouse come into the room somehow on our first night. However, the staff were prompt to exterminate it. Behaviour of all staff members was great, and food was also of quite good quality.

Good resort in a small town of madarihaat. The rooms are spacious and good with feel of nature all around. The staff are well behaved and cooperative. Slightly inside from Highway but worth if you want feel of a jungle resort. Food is home cooked style. Overall decent.

Secluded and hidden away from the main road, this place is quiet, pleasant and tranquil. The AC room was very nice with en-suite shower-room. Rooms cleaned every day. Though available, we did not ask for fresh towels every day. In-room tea and coffee making facilities, with sealed, chilled bottled water available at all times. The staff are the icing on the cake ! Excellent, friendly, helpful always. Special mention has to be made of Shujoy who attended to us with a smile always. He is exceptionally good . The Manager, Avik maintains high standards and ensures the resort works like a charm. And then the local drivers....fantastic local knowledge. Would highly recommend this resort !!

We visted Jaldapara 2nd week of June 2023. Our first dooars tour. During the month of April we just mailed and got response just within few hours. All details and tariffs clearly send through WhatsApp. We found that the charges are perfect and as per our budget. We booked 3 rooms. Not only that I got phone call from the owner and he gave all type of guidance related to the tour. We went to the resort from madarihat railway station by e-rickshaw just within 15-20 minutes. The resort is located just few metres or a kilometre far from the main entrance (holong point) of Jaldapara national park. The rooms are spacious , clean, well furnished with king sized bed, AC , geyser, television, wardrobe , mirrors , centre table, chairs and other necessities like tea kits, electric kettle, mineral water bottles, liquid soap, shampoo etc. We are provided with extra bed according to our demand. The most beautiful thing was that the rooms have large window from where we could view the nature and the jungle. The resort looked very beautiful in the evening when the lights of the lawn and the middle park are all switched on. The safety was very much satisfactory. The restaurant was very good, the food is also delicious and proper hygiene was maintained. We take the meal plan in which breakfast, lunch, evening snacks and dinner are included. The behaviour of all staffs are very good and polite. From the very first time we arrived at the madarihat railway station the resort authority guided us properly and also for the jungle safari and local sight seeing.

Not recommended. Do not be fooled by the 4.5+ ratings like me. Do not expect much. It can be opted for as a place to rest for a night if you are passing the Jaldapra area. The place is really hard to locate as google map doesnt show you the correct way, and on top of that, the owners haven't put sign boards. We had booked 2 rooms via an agent as we were returning from Bhutan and had a flight next morning from Bagdogra. Both rooms were strictly ok. Rooms were not cleaned properly, the electric kettles in both the rooms were dirty. The bedsheet, the pillows, the quilt had visible signs of usage and lots of spots as if they havent been cleaned at all. Similarly, the towels and hand towels looked dirty. The floor mat seemed as if it wasnt washed for ages. If you go in the dining area, the area where you wash hands, has a maroon whirlpool washing machine and is used to was towels. So basically, the towels and other sheets and pillow covers are not drycleaned, which is why they all looked dirty. Water bottles were not available. When asked, they had to go out and get it. They could have arranged it well before as our agent had already informed them. We had asked for Veg Sandwich, which was good. As we had to leave early in the morning at 7 AM, we requested for packed breakfast, which they said is not possible as chef would then had to come by 5 am. After a lot of request, they agreed to pack 4 butter and 4 jam sandwich. And we were grateful for that. However, they did not put enough jam and butter. All in all, not a great place to stay.

This jungle resort is 5 mins away from main road .. 10-15 mins away from Jaldapara Forest Safari , Rooms are neat and clean .. Service is upto mark ... But most of the food items mentioned on menu was unavailable .

The surrounding green sanctuary full of natural beauty is truly a wonderful place, sometimes herds of elephants are also seen.

We went there at the end of January '23. It was a fascinating experience to say the least. The ambience is absolutely homely, food is awesome, rooms are really good and worth-staying. But what will please you most is the behaviour of staff led by their pro-active and extremely courteous manager. I would like to thank them all.
