SUBANSIRI DAM - Featured Reviews (373)
It will be the largest hydroelectric power station in India once the construction is over. As of now the constructions are going on and its a restricted place so you won't get entry near to the dam etc. You can only see it from a distance. But as its a construction area and lots of trucks ply daily the roads are bad and its not worth to visit now. Will be great to visit once the project is over
Visited on 17 July 2022. 1500 cr loss, in seconds!
Engineers & workers of this dam might retire here with lifetime achievement of building only one dam!
2003 - Project started
2022 - Project going on...
Capacity - 2000 MW (Highest in India)
Batching & mixing plant - Highest capacity in India (for concrete work).
It took over 3 years to divert river and there was a need for revision of dam structure and the project is delayed (20 years now) due to monsoon & landslides.
Boguchandgesstroy, Soyuzgidrosptsstry and Soma Enterprise Ltd is building the dam and NHPC Ltd is the operator (power generation).
Largest Hydroelectric Project under construction.. The structure is Massive and the engineering is marvelous.
The sceneric view is just amazing and the road connectivity to the dam is also good. But at the rainy season it is not wise to visit the place as the dam is located in hilly place and moreover the place is little muddy in the dam. The best time to visit is in winter season so that you can see it's true potential of the place.
It's an amazing place for a day out with friends and family or just for fun and frolic and picnic. Although the dam is under construction and will take lot of time before it's fully functional but still it's a nice place to hang around and click some really nice pics. The rainy season and the mountain peaks covered with fog and mist just adds to the charm and attraction. It's a straight road approx 20 min drive from Gogamukh traffic square. Worth visiting at least once.
Awesome location
This will be the largest hydroelectric power generation in India once its completed.
Very narrow and deepest Valley.
NHPC is building the dam.
They are building it for a long time.
Many times the project got stopped due to local protest.
And mansoon is also playing role in interpreting the work flow.
The Dam is famously known as Gerukamukh Dam rather than its original name Lower Subansiri Dam. It is under construction but still it gives cozy feelings and pleasures. If you want to enjoy true taste of engineering, you must pay a visit.
At assam and arunachal Pradesh border, awesome place,
Going to be India's biggest hydroelectric dam . For that u need to visit lilabari station, that goes from guwahati.
