The place where Sri Adi Sankaracharya was born and lived. This place has got goddess in different forms and also a temple where lord Sri krishna gives Darshan. This is a very quite, serene place. The Mutt has got patashala.
No words to explain this divine place, must place to visit. Krishna temple closes by 10:30am and opens in evening but other places ate open till 12:30.
Wonderful place full of spiritual vibes. Loved to be there for an hour. This is the place where it is said that Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya was bathing in Poorna riever when a crocodile caught his foot and he left him safe only when he promised to be a Sanyasi whole life. The Krishna Temple nearby was also very nice. For entering inside one has to remove his shirt which I did not prefer since I was on a long tour therafter. It was nice to know that they teach Vedas (Rigveda) and there is school nearby. It is a residential school of ancient style.
This is the birth place of Sri Adi Sankara. It's on the river Poorna. Adi Sankara brought this river for his mother. The complex houses a Krishna temple, mandapam for functions, vedic school, and a bathing ghat. The entire facility is managed by Sringeri Mutt.
The Sarada Devi temple and,Aaryamba Devi samadhi sthal. Also the Sri Krishna temple and the muthala kadavu(crocodile step) where Sankaracharya was permitted for penance by mother.
Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya, is a rustic village and away from the hustle and bustle of Kochi city. The Mutt has a temple dedicated to Goddess Sharadamba and Sri Shankara. The samadhi of Aryamba ( mother of Adi Shankara) is also located here. A beautiful Sri Krishna temple is found adjoining. The complex is calm, serene with loads of positive vibes. A place for meditation and contemplation. The mutt is covered with heavy vegetation and is located next to the river. There is enough parking, a hall for functions and rooms to let(both A/C and non A/C). Krishna temple closes at 10.30AM while the main complex is open till noon 1PM. It is advisable to reach there before 9AM and have a good darshan. You can even plan to bring breakfast and have it beside the river.
It is the place were adi Shankara was born. A calm and quiet place were we can experience spiritual vibe.
