Sri Sri Durga Bari Temple - Hindu temple in Agartala - West Tripura, India

Durga Mandir is the temple located near Ujjayanta Palace grounds in Agartala, Tripura, which is dedicated to devi Durga. This temple was built in 19th century by Maharaja Radha Kishore Manikya, as part of the Royal Palace of Tripura Kingdom (Ujjayanta Palace).

Very quite and peaceful place. You will feel peace of mind after going there. Very easily accessible from any portion of the city through different modes of transportation. It's kind of City centre for Agartala city. You will find KFC, Sherawali kind of restaurants there, you can find different other pilgrims like Jagannath bari, Loknath bari, Shri Krishna ashram, Ramthakur ashram near to this place.

Interesting Trivia - This video is from Tripura - this is perhaps the only Durga puja in the world where State offers State Salutation (Rashtriya Salaami) to the Idol of Goddess Durga at Durgabari Temple (over 500 years old) in Agartala. As per merger agreement of Royal Tripura and Indian Union (1949) the Puja in this Royal temple is state's responsibility. District Magistrate is the Sebayat. If you look closely you will see only two hands of the idol instead of normal 10. It is because once Queen got frightened seeing 10 hands. So eight hands of the idol here are hidden. After this the idols are taken to the Raj Andar in the palace, the King offers salutation and then they idols are taken for immersion on palanquin (Palki). The jewelry is all real gold brought out for 10 days of durga puja every year from the Royal treasury.
