Shree Kiriteswari Shaktipeeth Temple - Hindu temple in Berhampore, Kiriteswar - Murshidabad, India

According to the Puranas or Hindu mythology the place were named as Kiriteswari. Peeth devi name is devi Vimala and Bhairab is Samvarta. The construction of the temple is more than 1000 years old and this place was considered to be the sleeping place of Mahamaya. The original Temple was destroyed in 1405. The present temple was re-constructed by Darpanarayan, king of Lalgola in the 19th century and this is the oldest mark of architecture amongst 51 Peethas. Toto fare from the ghat is around 40 rupees per head. if you want to do the whole tour then 500 would be enough

A less known heritage place of Murshidabad, though the site is required to be renovated. Hopefully soon it will be looked after by concern authority as recently the village is announced as Fresh village by GOI. Soon like other places it will become a great place in the map of Murshidabad.

It is one of the sati pith ... here the nomenclature was done because of the skull ...which means "kirit"...if you visit the 4 tues day of pauss maas you will see a large fair conduct here...

this is one of the 51 Sakti Peetha where parts of Sati's body fell. This is where Sati's Kirit or Tiara or crown fall. It is a sacred and 300+ year old place. The original murti is worshipped on special occessions only.

It's a little hidden temple much inside village. There are remnants of old temple called Gupto mandir that was created to avoid Nawab Ali Vardi's eye. Architecturally nothing special but historically and religiously important. It's one of the 51 shakti peeth

Nice place to visit with your family. This is one of the "Sati Pith"... The temple and its surrounding areas are very beautiful. You can feel the real touch of Bengal's village there. The management is good and helpful.
