Very spiritual place. There were a lot of crowd when I visited during the week days. I started to stand in queue around 12:30 and we ended around 2:30. It's a tradition to offer liquor to Kala Bhairava. Nowadays it's not allowed, but some devotees do offer it. The devotees hand over the liquor bottles to the priest, who pours the liquor in a saucer. He then offers prayers and takes the saucer near the deity's lips, which have a slit. He tilts the plate a bit, and the liquor starts disappearing.
Kal Bhairav Temple is a must-visit for those interested in Hindu mythology and spirituality. The temple has a unique tradition of offering liquor as prasad, which adds to its uniqueness. The temple is well-maintained and has a rich history, making it a great place to visit for those interested in history and culture
According to one such legend Lord Mahakaal of Ujjain appointed Kal Bhairav to protect the city at this place. Therefore, Kal Bhairav is also called the Kotwal of the city. Devotees offer liquor to the deity, The liquor is poured into a shallow cup or plate and put close to the mouth of the deity.

This temple is very famous for the visitors coming to Ujjain. But there is no management in this temple, there is neither provision of drinking water nor any kind of shade from the temple side. Devotees are forced to stand under the open sky. The management here should provide basic facilities to the visiting devotees so that they can plan to come again. Any devotee who comes here comes with the trust of God. There should be separate arrangements for darshan for the elderly and the disabled. I hope this comment of mine reaches the temple management and necessary action is taken.
Amazing atmosphere and things to watch. Best time to visit is evening. All the light effects make the visit icing on the cake. Each scene despite a story in Shiv Purana.
It's a very happy place for those who are the pure divotte of kaal Bhairav, if you are ujjain you must visit here,it will take time to darsan almost 2-3 hrs but it's very nice.
Always take care of your personal things because too much of a rush is here.
Otherwise it's a very good place for the visit
Jai kaal bhairav
