Peaceful place, if you spend some time with nature then must visit. In this complex are located tomb of Shaikh Yusuf Qattal, mosque, enclosure walls and few graves said to be those of Shaikh's relatives and followers. These buildings were tastefully built by Shaikh Alau'd-Din grandson of Shaikh Farid of Shakarganj Shaikh Yusuf Qattal was a disciple of Qazi Jalalu'd-Din of Lahore. He devotionally performed religious works at Satipula, a weir near Khirki Masjid and died in 1527 His small and little pretty twelve pillared chatt designed tomb rests on a low height square platform with each side measuring 5.5 m. Pillars and pierced screens (jalis) below chhajjas, all of red sandstone accomodates an entrance on the southern side. The parapet of the tomb is ornamented with running kanguras of red sandstone while the parapet of the sixteen sided drum of the dome is crowned with same kangura pattern, brit, it has an inset of blue tiles. The lime-plastered dome is topped by a decorated finial of red sandstone inside, the small western mihrab is carved in the centre with a pendant design, over which it has a Kalima inscription in Kufic characters. The rectangular grave of Shaikh Yusuf Qattal in red sandstone measures 2.18mx 1.30m x 0.36m. It is oriented in north-south direction and bears a similar Kalima inscription Architecturally, it appears to have been copied from more or less akin tomb of Imam Zamin which is located near Alai-Darwaza in Qutb area at Mehrauli, Nearby in the west of the tomb stands a small rubble-built mosque of size 12.40m x 5.33m with three arched openings in the east. The western wall of the mosque is consisting of a row of six niches. Its ceilings are more ornamented than walls It's free of cost. Walking distance approx (1.3km) from nearest metro station of panchsheel (magenta line).
Located on Khirki road, Khirki extension panchsheel enclave, is a beautiful tomb made in red sandstone. This is the tomb of Yusuf Qattal who was a saint residing in Khirki village area and died in 1527. The compound consists of a tomb and a domed mosque as of now in proper condition. One can find ruins of other structures that were there at some point of time. Normally it is not crowded and this place offers solitude in the heart of the city. The place need proper care and maintenance else the whole compound will become be destroyed.
I visited the tomb of Yusuf Qattal last month in the Khirki village located in the congested Malviya Nagar area. Shaikh Yusuf Qattal was a Sufi saint and poet who lived in this area in the 16th century. The tomb was built in 1527 with red sandstone and is quite ornamental. Sufi saints indulged in poems and songs with the primary aim of luring the local population to convert to Islam. It has twelve pillars and a gate on the south though it looks symmetrical on all sides. The tomb is in a good condition but its surroundings are in ruins. Accessibility Features: Yes=Ramp access. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Entrance. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Restroom/Toilet. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Seating. Yes=A wheelchair-accessible Parking.
Such historical monuments must be better maintained and protected
The place is just opposite the select city walk mall walking diatance of 5 mins. Though its not maintained properly but history lovers can visit and imagine the time of that era.
Whenever you go to this place, you'll only see the People sitting there, children playing cricket, football and other games, tomb made with red sandstone with beautiful jaali (screen) patterns, covering the tomb all the sides, i'll give 5/10 for the cleanliness, some people also come their worship, protected monument under asi, for more about its tomb and history a board is setup at it's entry, located in the khidki extension , Exteriors and interiors pictures are also attached
It is an incredible piece of architecture, instead of walls around the tomb, there are only pillars and latticed screens made of red sandstone!
Need a security guard.. otherwise it will be convert into a play ground ...
