Puthiyakavu Devi Temple - Hindu temple in Kumarakom - Kottayam, India

The artform called Theeyattu, performed from puthiyakavu Devi Temple. The deity of the Puthiyakavu temple is Bhadrakali, the Goddess. The main festival falls in the month of Meenam (March/April) and is an eight-day affair. Two rituals that are part of the festival are the Kalamezhuthu and Kalampooja. The rituals - the drawing of elaborate pictures of deities on the floor using colourful powders accompanie by singing - attract a lot of devotees. Theeyattu, another ritual, is based on the story of Goddess Bhadrakali, returning after killing the demon, Darika, and describing her exploit to Lord Shiva.

Beautiful temple. near a pond. I went there to attend a marriage-wide area to park cars even buses. There is an nss office nearby and an auditorium

Puthiyakavu Devi Temple is located at Attippeedika Road at Kumarakom. Its an old Temple & renovated recently.

Hindu place of worship. Managed by Travancore Dewasom. Typical Kerala temple architecture with a pond and Banyan tree at the front. A place to observe Hindu religious practices. Outsiders please respect local customs and culture while visiting.

The palace is very good only silance

Its a temple with very simple design.but,the beauty of the surroundings make it a better place to pray,to visit,and if you wish you can bath in the temple pond
