On the morning of my return from Darjeeling, I went to this museum after breakfast. After entering, I first got to know about the various animals living around the Himalayan glaciers and their lifestyle. The Royal Bengal Tiger is also there. Then I went to Padmaja Naidu Museum. The tomb of Padmaja Nairu is in front of the museum. Before entering inside, I saw the notice that the use of cameras is prohibited, so I could not take pictures inside. But I saw everything very well. There how a mountaineer climbs with different equipment and how much hardships and sacrifices are made. The equipment used by famous mountaineers is preserved there. Moreover, the carcasses of various species of animals from the Indian subcontinent have been preserved that look almost exactly like those animals. It goes without saying that it is a good place to visit and learn.
This is one of the must visiting points in North Bengal tour. This bears all kinds of animals, birds and reptiles. This place also contains a museum which is natural. The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute is located here. This zoo is all time favourite to both the kids and the adults. As entry fees Rs. 110 is allotted per head. The kids upto 5 years are allowed to enter at free of cost. For foreigners the entry ticket costs Rs. 180 per head. The area is huge and vivid. All kinds of rules and regulations are maintained properly here. This place is an attractive point to the tourists all times. I really recommend this place to visit.
Excellent place in Darjeeling to know about local wildlife. Red panda and many kinds of mountain type goats, cows and tigers are kept here. We saw the Royal Bengal tiger roaring. The zoo is neat and clean. Highly recommend.
Everyone should visit this zoo while in Darjeeling. It has all these beautiful birds along with some of these majestic animals like Leopard, Black Panther, Red Panda, Bear, Tiger, Wolves among others. We were just so lucky as all except Tiger gave us a full active view in winter as shown in pics here. Just Rs 110 per person and you can have a day picnic with your family n friends here without any worry. The snake section is closed for winters.
One of the must visit zoo in India. Here one can love watching the red pandas, snow leopard along with other animals. It also has wide range of birds and an aquarium too. Dont miss this place if you go to darjeeling

This well-maintained and conservation-focused park offers a unique opportunity to see a diverse range of Himalayan wildlife up close. The park's commitment to the conservation of endangered species, such as the snow leopard and red panda, is commendable. Walking through the lush greenery and observing these magnificent creatures in their natural-like enclosures is a truly educational and awe-inspiring experience.
Moreover, the park's picturesque location, nestled in the Himalayan foothills, provides visitors with breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The knowledgeable staff and informative exhibits further enhance the overall experience. A visit to Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park is not only enjoyable but also contributes to the vital conservation efforts in the region, making it a standout attraction in Darjeeling.
A wonderful tourist attraction among the mountains. You have to buy tickets first which is Rs 110/person. Though it was Friday but the line was long so come earlier if you want to avoid rush. Museum ticket is also included so don't forget to visit it. Their main attraction is Red panda and snow leopard but there are other animals also.
Anyone can get never bored of this place . This place is cleaned properly and is different from any other Zoo. Red Pandas are a key feature of this place but Tigers, Clouded leopards , the different varieties of birds also attract the attention of the visitors here....you need a minimum time of 2-3 hours to explore this place entirely as there are fun activities inside for kids , The Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and a museum. The museum is full of informative and interesting facts , what does it not have!
