OYO Gompus - Hotel in Kalimpong - Kalimpong, India

This review is for the Restaurant. I don't like to be overly critical about a place, but good lord this place is a nightmare. I can't believe this is the best Kalimpong has to offer. Below subpar food. Bad, even Dishes were either overcooked or undercooked. Special mention to the restroom. I'd rather hold it than use the restrooms here. I've seen cleaner public restrooms than the restrooms in this place. Utter, utter disappointment. Anyone reading this review, do your taste buds and appetite a favor and steer clear of this place.

A well known place for good food and drinks. Located at the heart of Kalimpong town. A very good stopover for tourists and travelers. This place is part of Kalimpong history. Exist from age-old times and very popular to tourists . The view from this place is good. When in Kalimpong it's worth visiting at least once !

We visited the restaurant early morning scouting for momos but couldn't get more disappointed. The momo was with thick ciating and the meat not tasting great majorly because of the overdose of MSG. Won't recommend

I went at Gompus Restaurent for dinner with my family..we order veg freid rice , chicken black beans and prawns chilly but taste is pathetic and salty and spicy my son who is 2years old he can't have that rice coz steward are not well trained..i was order veg fried rice instead of that order taking get us Schwenze fried rice..bad experience....

I visit this place once a month. It's a routine. Chinese items are good. Ambience needs to be improved. Very old fashioned and not properly maintained.its very dark. Rest is good.

I was visiting kalimpong afters years, though i am a local, i have been living away from my home since long time. I wanted to relive the kaleybung life before going abroad . My boyfriend and I decided to have a dinner at the Gompus Restaurant, it came out be so bad that i feel ashamed of saying that was Gompus, the one that has been standing from then and now. I could have adjusted with the bad and not so clean interior if the food and service quality was good. Ignorant and unprofessional staff, we even had to ask him to clean the table, provide drinking water. No one came to our table to ask for further requirements after serving our order. Food was really bad, nightmare to my boyfriend as he himself is an ITC Chef. The restaurant still uses plastic plates, literally, the plate looked like a planter. My goodness who eats in a plastic plate!! We are utterly disheartened by such bad experience at our own Gompus. We have travelled a lot and no one have ever treated us with so much ignorance, than in our own home town restaurant. I would not recommend this place to anyone, hawa ma overrated. Kalimpong ko naak katnu baseyko.

I recently visited Gompus for lunch with my family. From dirty table linen, gloomy atmosphere to the taste of the food...it was not a mentionworthy experience. While we waited for our order we could see that priority was given to customers who ordered drinks (after entering I came to know that the restaurant and bar is in the same place.) with or without food. The restaurant is not suitable if you are visiting with children/elderly since customers can drink and smoke openly. I also found the seating arrangements quite congested. We ordered chicken momos and veg. chowmein. The order took longer than expected. Chicken momos were over cooked and reheated ones. The chicken chow was too oily! While having our food we came to know that the original owner has given the restaurant on lease. I wish just like the original name of the restaurant the authenticity and quality of the food served would remain the same. I know every person has their own ideas to manage but keeping a bit of authenticity alive can go a long way especially with people who have been,seen and dined at the restaurant earlier when the food quality was good and taste was yum! I also wish that next time the staff will also give priority to orders for food placed by non alcoholics.

Was poor but now achieved the worst status. Now became a bus adda... anyone can heckle the guests and their family, forgot about privacy. May God save preserve the dignity of female members present in that resturant. And the washroom got the toxicity from a nuclear waste.
