New York City Toddy Shop - Restaurant in Kuttanad Taluk - Alappuzha, India

Highlight of our trip to India. The drive their was beautiful. The food and service exceptional. Love that a group has their own area to enjoy. The views nostalgic. It was magical. Orderd almost everythingon the menu and we ate everything. I cannot wait to return.

Food was okay. Don't expect hygiene and cleanliness here, as they sell toddy here. Fish is very costly. I don't recommend karimeen fry for the price of 700Rs, they charge. Not at all worthy. In Alapuzha, fishes are less cost dues to the backwaters. Many of the good shops in Alapuzha charges only 150Rs-200Rs for the same fish fry. The service was prompt. Ambience is cool because the entire place is surrounded by water. Families do visit here, so it is safe place for dine in during day time.

Enjoyed few picks of "Naadan" toddy shop dishes and varieties of preparations . We can have separate huts to dine with a view of paddy field and fresh air. It's a good pick to travel with family as well.

This is an out of nowhere location that you could travel to, if you sole focus is the view and the vibe. Toddy shop food is meant to have a different taste and feel that this place misses big time. The food is average and so is the toddy. For all the effort you make to get to this location, the food is not worth it. But speaking of ambience, this location can be given full points. To sit by the little booths they have provided, and have food and toddy, enjoying the view, compensates for the rest of the drawbacks. We got kappa, appam, porotta, karimeen, pork, beef roast, kakka and toddy. Out of all of these, beef and pork was good, and so was the appam. The rest of the food was just mediocre. The road that leads to this location is in bits. If it's raining, it will be even worse. If you are going during a busy hour, parking will be a difficult task as they can accommodate only a maximum of 15cars, that too if squeezed in. There is no booking available, it's first come first serve.

To any one who cares about the nature in any way PLEASE PLEASE stay far away from this place. They throw all the waste into the lake beside the property everything from Cigarette buds to alcohol bottles can be found just flooring in the water. Additionally, the EXTREMELY RUDE staff and below average food makes this place one to avoid at all costs. If anybody can report this place and have it shut down, I think you will be doing a great deed to protect God's own country

My Honest Review, Main Think is Price : Its Over Priced, Food : I tried almost everything available when i Travel to the shop. Taste Base i don't think its Superb but Ya its good. Ambiance : Its very beautiful when U travel at evening bcz i Travel this place at evening... Bathroom Facilities : Available, But not good at all. Staff : Staff behaviour are Good and they are always busy so we feel Little They are no caring, but good service Overall In 5 score i give 3.5. If price is not a issue to You. Go straight to Newyork City. Yes i Forgot Something make sure how many people are you and order the food with Limited, Dont waste food. Fish Items they are charging in weight base....

Their best dish is the beef fry, which pairs perfectly with the hot, crispy, and flaky porotta. Don't forget to try the kallappam; it's a must-try. The ambience is very pleasing, although the seating arrangements are only average.

Perfect place to have toddy and meal. Superb cook they have. I loved the food and toddy they serve me. It's famous for fresh toddy (a natural and fermented drink which then is alcoholic, taken from coconut flower bud) is available in this place it's a family restaurant too. Just few huts for privacy, not that great. Food was good. Service is OK. The scenic view around this place is superb. Fresh and clean air both sides are paddy fields. We went there during rain paddy fields were filled with water and it was so beautiful.
