Moroshicha Bhairavgad Fort - Featured Reviews (742)
Breathtaking views with an exciting hike. I went here during the end of the summer. The morning temperatures dropped as low as 7degC but then it was as hot as 44degC in the afternoon. We did the Ghanchakkar trek here. The hike is beautiful with a temple on the top. The temple is built inside a cave and has a wonderful idol inside.
We got to saw fireflies early in the morning. Half the hike is without any assistance while half is with steps and railings. Once you climb up you can continue walking ahead but that is where the difficulty is. The walk is deceivingly long but a great hike. Do carry a lot of water with you as the temperatures can get really hot here.
One of the most adventurous treks in the Sahyadris. The total length of the trek one way is about 6 kms. The initial trail is not very steep however gets steep in the middle and then comes a vertical rock patch with inclined stairs with a narrow lengths.
I would rate the trek difficult during monsoon but might be moderate during winters and summers because of non slippery surfaces. Mesmerizing views after going to the top.
Please ensure to hire a local guide with safety equipment or go with a trek group who take care of the arrangements. I went with Shivsurya Adventures and trek leader Swami took care of all the safety set up to climb the difficult rock patch.
Just wow !!!! I did this trek in monsoon (July 2023) and it's a little risky. We hired a guide from manucha dhaba at the main entry point of bhairavgad. Without a trek guide it is not recommended to do
It is a nice place, it was used as a watch tower to keep an eye on the trade route.
You can park the vehicle on the bhairavgadh hotel. From there there is a short trek of around 1 and half hour to the base of Bhairavgadh.
I will strongly advice to come with a good trekking group or to hire a local guide who will help to cross the 2 risky patches while climbing.
It is not very tall, not very dangerous, but you have to do this if you love to trek.
I had this on my bucket list since long was very happy to get here.
Carry water and food, you will fing nothing after that hotel parking.
Keep trekking. Stay safe.

We started the trekking at 5 am early morning to avoid getting exhausted in the sun. Ensure you carry torch with you to avoid draining your mobile battery as it's pitch dark in the forests
Other tip would be prefer travelling with a big group who know what to do and how to get you to the top
It is One of the most thrilling yet terrifying experiences I have ever had.
This place is not for faint hearted like me yet I did it and boy do I not cherish it .
From climbing the sloppy mountain to Repelling everything was deadly but fun.
The Group @Maharashtra_Desha I travelled with ensured our safety to the best
Words don't do justice when we speak about nature and you must just go and witness it yourself
Moroshicha Bhairavgad is located near malshej ghat and is one of the most adventure Treks. Moroshicha Bhairavgad is a prominent fort which rises steeply from konkan range making it a difficult and tricky fort to climb. The base village of Moroshicha Bhairavgad is Moroshi. While travelling from Malshej ghat one can clearly see sharp wall like pinnacle separated from main range near Moroshi. The top of Moroshicha Bhairavgad is created by the geological structure known as a dyke and the final stage on the rock mass is very fascinating. Moroshicha Bhairavgad happens to be only fort built on a dyke making it a must see wonder for trekkers. Moroshicha Bhairavgad must have been very important as it holds very strategic location. Water tank at east side is also subject of study, how to preserve the water which is draining from the hill.
I did this trek almost a decade back, it is one of the toughest out of the treks I did. One has to climb on narrow route continuously looking at deep valley which is almost 90 degree vertical. Might not be difficult for the pros or experts but definitely a tough one for people new to trek.
