They did not allow us to go inside as we did not have booking. But I saw a couple was coming out of the cottage. They did some previous booking and spent the night over there. A local driver informed that there is a ghost over there and told us many stories to convince. Though I have no idea and not ready to exploreBut those who loves exploring can enjoy there and spend a night with them...
If you are looking for a cozy stay in a quiet and picturesque location then Morgan House is your place. However since this place is run by the Govt, you cannot expect high notch hotel type of decor or maintenance, this place needs a renovation or revamp though. But every flaw is compensated by their staff hospitality and behavior. They made our stay very memorable by taking care of smallest things. Special mention to Ms S, Manager in charge and Mr Sardar. Cannot wait to go back!
A good place but without any maintenance. No emergency current backup, bathrooms without exhaust, water from faucet comes very slowly , no provision for ac, stale damp odour comes from walls. But the only good thing is the courteous behaviour of house staff. This property needs a major renovation before the new tourist season comes.
I'll just say what a gorgeous property. The staffs are good, food is good and cheap. Morgan House is a big property and the booking needs to be done from their official website only. The property has main building and 5-6 cottages. The booking of rooms in the main building needs to be done prior to 3-4 months.
Images depict the general impression of this place, but you get the ethereal feeling of beauty, quietness and sophistication when you see it with your own eyes, in real wood. Extremely luxurious, 5 big spacious rooms, and a large lounge just compliment it. There is 1 small room and it is better if you can avoid it if you can. In all respects this place is very prestigious, be it historically, geographically, locationwise and what not. You can visit whenever you like, and you will always witness the best that the building shows irrespective of the weather conditions. This truly is capable enough of showing how hard it is to get an accomodation, and how sought-after this place is. Equally capable is the staff who runs this place. They are extremely friendly, and very caring. The ivy creepers on the building may give off a haunted vibe to this place (as may be the scene with so many urban legends) but trust me, there are no ghosts here, none at all.
I loved the place. It's serene beauty all around impresses. To have the real feeling of tranquility you have to stay and spend time here. I stayed in the spacious room with family where you can spend good time sitting comfortabily with friends and family. Toilet is also big.. Room is soaciois and comfortable. Thanks to WBTDC for maintaining it.
The historical touch and glory is everywhere. Well decorated lounge, dining , well maintained lawn. One of the top most places in kalimpong. Nearly 4 km from Jeep stand / main Market. No eateries nearby except army canteen which serve various South Indian food and open for lunch. Share Omni van available from Jeep stand. Up hill price took 40/- per person and downhill 20/- per person, available from 7am to 7pm.
Food quality is pathetic.. I don't feed stray dogs such poor quality food. Kitchen staff is very unprofessional and loud during dining times. Not recommend.
