Benfish Orchid Tourist Lodge - Lodge in Kalimpong - Kalimpong, India

1) We booked 2 rooms online. When we reached there they gave us a good room but another is shaby and dark also bit smaller. Now the main disappointment is when another guest came the lodge manger told us to shift to another room although we have 2 days of booking still in the middle of our date we have to change our room with our large number of luggages , nobody was there to help. 2) we ordered veg and chicken thali most of the time.. food was so so.. not great..! chicken was not fully cooked (unfortunately we found blood inside the chicken bone). On the evening one person wanted to order Chinese for herself but they refused only because they can't cook for only one person. We went to the market and took dinner for that evening.. From the top floor view and rooms both are great.. we saw kanchanjangha.

Its a beautiful property, almost well maintained, well behaved staff Food was simple & tasty They are collecting extra GST amount without giving bill for the same It was 288 rs for me, Service could have been little faster I needed a early morning coffee, Asked them when they can serve they said 7, got it at around 8.30, Other than this everything was perfect ***They have geyser , Running tv, and Safe environment for couple / family / ladies & Also Kanchanjungha view is available in clear day ***They do not have packaged mineral water

Mixed experience. Staff behaviour is very good. Location wise it's 1 km away from bus stand or motor stand. You have to take Omni or Eeco taxi to reach here or from here to reach the market area. Fare is Rs 20 per head or Rs 200 in May 2023. Kanchenjungha view is poroperly available from top floor only. Food quantity and quality is very good even you are staying with very little child. Poor part of this property is bathroom section. Not a single bathroom is properly maintained. Either the tap is leaking or water is comming in very very slow rate. It will take almost 30 min to fill a 15 lit bucket. We have experience this problem in room no 102, and 103. Water geyser is available but you have to request them to turn on and wait for an hour to fill a bucket with hot water as pressure is very low. Gap of railing of the balcony is not safe for child. And last but not the least you have to pay 12%GST additional at the property excluding the online payment on benfish website. In my opinion it's better to avoid.

Hotel Location was ok. Hotel price is lower compared to others but no room service is available. Rooms are also not maintained, even you will not get a television in the rooms. As per the price, food was not up to the mark. Not recommended at all

Standard lodging option by govt. Orchid at Kalimpong is operated and maintained by Benfish - under Fisheries Department, Govt. of West Bengal. Stay here and visit local sightseeing spots as well as long distand destinations as Lava, Lolegaon, Rishyap, Pedong and many other yet unexplored beautiful tourist locations. Approx 70 Km away from Siliguri, Kalimpong is the most ideal starting point for plunging into the green terrain of the Himalayas.

Located just outside the crowded area near DM bunglow location is good. Food is not fancy but nice.

The staff behaviour was really good, the food quality & quantity was very good & rate is cheap. Wi fi internet available 24 hours & also beautiful TV in each room. Geaser in all bathroom & well condition. Pine View Nursery near about 4 minutes in car. The Kanchanjangha veiw at the top floor. Various colouring small leaves trees hanging at various places in the lodge fill like resort.

My experience was mixed. Location of this property is good, but the building is old and not maintaining properly. 2 Delux rooms (room no 201 & 202) are spacious, but some standard rooms (room no 103, 104 & 204) are not up to the mark. There is some problem in bathrooms of all rooms. Bathrooms are large in size, but bad ordor and continuous flowing of water through comod irritated you. This is common problem for all rooms. No 24 hrs hot water available there, you have to request to switch on the geyser every time. Long common balcony is the best part of this property. But the huge gap between balcony grill not safe for the child. Thought the rate of food is little bit high but the quality, quantity and test of foods as like homemade. Dont worry about food if you have little baby with you, they will help you as per your requirements. Behavior of staffs are great, they will help you always with smile.
