Staffs are also very humble & helpful to select the best and unique items. And one of the best part is that its running under the Andaman Administration. So there is no chance to get cheated here. You can buy only original products from this Emporium.

This place is heart of the town port Blair.More over very very neat n busy spot.As Important institution are available like B.Ed college n old historical boys school as well as cottage industry is also functioning there.One of the old cinema hall mount Batten was there which has been converted to Sun sea restaurant

Stayed here for 2 nights. I have stayed in this hotel 2-3 times since last 20 years. This hotel has declined a lot steadily and steeply. This is not a hotel but a MEDIOCRE LODGE. When we checked in the receptionist was very indifferent. We had to carry our luggage to the room on our own which was on 3rd floor. On top of that the receptionist told us that the lift stops on its own in between floors sometimes for about 30 minutes to 1 hour. This scared us. We carried our bags through narrow stairs to 3rd floor. Their house keeping is very bad. The bed sheets were smelly and seemed used. The blanket they provided was without a cover and was unclean and smelly (forget sanitisation of the room). Likewise for pillows. We complained to the receptionist three times and every time he would say that he would send some one. Well no one turned up and we had to make do with alternate means since it was late in the night. We asked for TV remote 5 times but again it didn't come. Window AC was broken and very noisy. There is no WIFI in room. There is a WIFI in the reception which the receptionist keeps switching off from time to time and states that it's not working. In the bathroom there is no curtains on the shower and water splashed all over the slippery tiled floor and we had to tread carefully when using the washroom so as not to slip and fall. Breakfast buffet was very ordinary, and they served boiled Maggi masala noodle as one of the dishes. Tea coffee served were cold. The have an empty and shady bar on the 3rd floor which was very noisy with loud music playing and disturbed our sleep all night. On top of that the receptionist woke us at 8am and asked us to vacate the room. We told him that as per the agreement a copy of which I was having said check out was 11am. He kept disturbing us every hour coming and knocking at our door till we vacated the room. OVERALL A PATHETIC 2 STAR LODGE. I do not recommend this Lodge to anyone.There are much better managed hotels around at the same price.

I found the Samudrika to be dull. Lots of variety but nothing caught my eye. Staff is least bothered. Being Sunday most other handicraft shops in the area were shut. The private shops may be expensive, but they do have good variety and are attentive.
