Meesapulimala sunrise Trek with tent stay - Campground in Munnar, Kannan Devan Hills - Idukki, India

Wonderful short trekking of 7 km in nearly 4 hours ( I took 4 1/2 hours). Mesmerizing View of clouds and mist from top. Points to be noted 1. You can directly book your tent stay or Rhodo Mansion (Tent is another level experience) from KFDC website or through hiker india group.(Entry pass is only through KFDC) 2. Better use Hiking/trekking shoes (preferable water proof) 3. People with respiratory problems please avoid.( My view only because the terrain is above 8000 ft sea level and hiking is difficult for some people with respiratory problems) 4. You should have Rain coat,Torch, sanitizer spray( best against leeches) ,water bottle, Sunglass,Cap, Sunscreen lotion etc with you. 5. Trekking start at early morning 5 o clock. 6. You can park your vehicle at KFDC parking space. From there you have to hire Jeep (old Major one) to base camp. If 7 people are in your group per person it will be 500 per paerson for Taxi.

This place was amazing.its a checkpoint to us after a 2 hours Jeep journey from the kfdc office to rhodo mansions stay.the place is so good we could have our tea nd some snacks from there and during nights there's a place where we can have food with the camp fire and all

The journey was amazing. From munnar, have to get pass from ktdc. Then 2 hours of off road Jeep ride we reach the base camp. Which as amazing view of the nearing hills and the base camp it selfy is beautiful. Food and campfire were.reanged by them. Was a bit cold (9degc) so we prefered siting beside the campfire. After which we had great fun dancing around the campfire. Day after we started at 5 30 on a jeep to the rhodovalley from there begin the trek. First treck was to the sunrise point to an amazing view of sunrise. Then after walked up and down the through the mazing green graassy hills to the peak of meeshapulimala. A mesmerizing experience. The trek was completed by 11.

Messapulimala is the highest peak in Kerala. Situated near Munnar, this trek is a gem if done in the correct season ( specially after monsoon). It's around 5 km one was to the peak and will take 2-3 hrs. It's an easy moderate one day hike any beginner can also do. The trek is managed by KDFC and you need to book with them only. You need to report at their office in Munnar previous afternoon and take a jeep ride to the accomodation ( which acts as the base camp of the trek) and stay the night there. There are 3 options for it Base camp tents, Rhodomansion and Sky cottage. Except the rhodo mansion you need to take a short jeep ride next morning too to start at the base of the trail. The whole package is a great experience and totally worth the money ( around Rs. 1500 per head per night including trek fee, accomodation, dinner and brunch). *f you are a hiking person must go for it if in Munnar.

A good location for trekking and can be enjoyed.. it's about 8600 fts above sea level and consists of a series of eight mountains...and the last mountain is the meesappulimala..You have to book in advance for the trip with Kerala Forest Development corporation and has to ensure the availability of tents and food.the base camp station is at about 20 Kms away from Munnar town and has to travel by the Jeep arranged by KFD..the base camp is comprised of tents and one night you have to be lived in these tents..at early morning they will bring us to the trekking location by off road jeeps, and the journey is adventurous...water and food should be with the team and it's too cold so that sufficient dresses also must be with you..it's a very good location for trekking and adventurous trips...the sunrise at the top is really beautiful...

The best Trek and really worth. It's a 9 kilometres trek on foot from the Jeep accessible area. Meesapulimala is the second highest mountain or peak of the Western Ghats. You can watch Kolukkumala and Idukki arch dam from Meesapulimala. Kolukkumala is situated close to and little lower to Meesapulimala.
