Majevadi Gate is a gate of what used to be the medieval fortifications of Junagadh. The gate is a nice example of Indo-Islamic architecture, especially in the upper balcony of the gate with its lobed arches, highly decorative bracketed cornices and floral patterns decorating the columns of the bay windows. There's a single arched entrance, big enough to fit a truck. The entrance has doors fitted with large nails pointing outwards, testimony to the defense against the use of elephants to ram the doors.
The gate has clearly been refurbished recently and is painted in a fetching pink and beige. It does look like it's possible to climb the gate, but all the entrances were locked when I was there and none of the locals could explain how to enter.
Not a must-see, but a nice little landmark of Junagadh.
One of the last 2 iconic gates of Jundagard's old fortified city.
This gate is a important landmark for crossing different part of the city.
U are likely to cross this place many times
