Amazingly lovely. A sea of yellow flowers surrounds the main temple, and in the morning, the area is swarming with hardworking honey bees. Due to how tourists are, there is some plastic, toffee wrappers, and chips packs scattered all over. However, the temple itself is fascinating and well-maintained. The carvings are still in condition, and the surrounding nature vistas are breathtaking.
Gandikota, often referred to as the "Grand Canyon of India," is an absolute marvel in Kurnool. The stunning gorge, carved by the Pennar River, is a natural wonder that leaves visitors in awe. The views of the crimson-hued rocks, meandering river, and the historic Gandikota Fort perched on the edge are simply breathtaking. It's a photographer's paradise and a perfect place for nature enthusiasts and history buffs alike. Exploring this hidden gem in Kurnool is an unforgettable experience that will leave you with lasting memories.
Magnificent, beautiful and then heartbreaking. Witness the greatness of our ancestors, architecture and imagination. Then comes the reality, the invaders who destroyed the culture and apathy of our poor maintenance. Don't miss this, you may never get a chance again.
Great heritage site. Temple is very ancient but no deity is there as it's been subject to various invasions in past. The temple is located inside the fort. The path goes through the village but proper signs are markings available to get you to this temple.
Peaceful place and also good for photography.... Its a Temple but idols are not present inside
Anyone visiting such historic places will fall in love with the architecture. It is said that this temple was build by Vijayangara Empire and you can find lots of sculptures engraved on pillar and wall of this temple. Later it was captured by Qutub Shahis and temple witnessed structural damage. As I visited on a weekday and as it was early in the morning around 8-9 AM, it wasn't busy at all, there were a family of 10 at the time I visited and later no one was around. One can spend some quality time exploring this marvellous temple in and out. You'll also be greeted by bunch of parrots and other species of birds in the temple premises.
The temple is inside the fort, the path goes through the village next to the jail. Signs are available and posted on the walk path. Very unique structure and architecture. No deity is there but the temple is unique. This is our culture and history. The pillars are full of meaningful stone carving. They also carved a lizard looking like komodo dragon.
Nice place to visit. The road to the fort is amazing with view of hills and windturbines . However to people travelling from Hyderabad or bangalore might feel difficulty as any road after diverting from NH45 is not good . It will slow your journey until you reach a toll gate 17 kms before Gandikota. Do not miss to visit Ranganatha swamy temple and Madhavaraya swamy temple they are very beautiful inside. Due to no maintenance bats smell will be there inside. The temples were ruined by rulers. Even though they are beautiful. There are no idols in the temples.
Excellent service by Mr. Raja. We went with family and we got very good hospitality. Rooms and beds were clean and location is walking distance from the fort. Would highly recommend...
"Gandikota", Gandi means Gorge and Kota means Fort (Fort built on the gorge). This place came into limelight because of its natural beauty, the gorge wherein River Penna flows through and got a tag as "Grand Canyon of India". Slowly and steadily it
That was a great experience "Grand Canyon of India". We can enjoy a lot here. It would be better if we reach before sunrise to View Point. Also this place has a boating facility. Even the Road to Gandikota is also excellent.
We did Zipline, Rope activity and rappelling with Adventure Club Gandikota team. Team was really awesome with their enthusiasm to encourage all age groups to try activities without any fear. They have highly certified team and follow all safety preca
Must go place. But try to avoid over weekends. Go on weekdays, stay in tents over near aptdc camping site, you can enjoy the views during sunset and sunrise. Trek down for boating and kayaking. Must experience kayaking here. You have pay and use toil
I never thought there was a Canyon in India It's beautiful and our own Indian Canyon but it's little Rocky to walk one side, need to be careful...!! Around this Canyon is a temple and a masjid you can see. I heard that there are adventurous things t
