Madan Mahal is a suburban area of Jabalpur famous for the historical Durgavati fort. A fort situated inthe outskirts of jabalpur named as Madan Mahal. Entry is free. You have to climb 100 stairs to reach this place. The view at the top is mind-blowing , one will overcome the tiredness of climbing the stairs once you reach the fort. Ideal to visit in from October to February. Cool windy breeze blow inside the fort. Don't forget to visit the fort while you are in jabalpur.
To reach there you will have climb stairs for 15 mins. Fort is beautiful and from the roof you can see amazing view of Jabalpur. There is no fee for entry and it will take around 30 - 60 min to visit entire fort.
Madan Mahal Fort, also known as Rani Durgavati Fort, was built by Gond ruler, Raja Madan Shah in the year 1116 AD.This fort was built as a watchtower for the rulers of the Gond Dynasty. If you visit at the top, this fort will provide you with a panoramic view of Jabalpur city. Watch out for the stairs at the entrance of the fort. One should take help while climbing the stairs Timings are 7 AM to 6 PM. Entry is free.

It's a good experience visiting this fort overall. It's in ruins but it's still holding up well, there's a small trek to get to this place. I have to say that the guard on duty isn't doing his job well, i saw locals throwing plastic chip packets & other garbage all over the place. Worth visiting once. Try going when the sun isn't overhead.
