A hidden treasure to sneak into the past and to explore the old architecture and details. Beautiful place in the hillock. Serene and quiet. Must visit. I really wish the other section by ASI should be also open for visit and the remains should be more informative.
Ancient Temple with detailed architectural features. This place is great with an exclusive museum. As an art researcher I really enjoyed visiting there.
Visited the ruins of Madan Kamdev Mandir.
While wandering through the scattered stone blocks l wondered how this magnificent temple must had looked like when it existed.
A must visit place for those who are interested in history and archaeology.
This is a treasure trove for history and art lovers. Archaeological Survey of India has done a really commendable job on the excavation and preservation of this historic site. It serves as both a tourist attraction and place of worship. Situated atop the Madan Kamdev hill, this place houses old sculptures dating back to the 10th century. The highlight is the central idol of Uma and Maheshwar embracing one another. With origins leading back to the Kamrup Pala dynasty, some describe this as a holy site upon which Lord Kamdev worshipped Shiva and Uma. According to a more history class oriented school of thought, this monument served as a base of operations for sculptors of that era with many creations being shipped off to various distant locations. The hill top ambience serves only to tease the imagination as to what this incredible site of Indian Hindu heritage may have owed it's existence. The old trees in the campus seem to have witnessed many a story etched now only in stone. The place is home to a Ganesh temple, a Shiva temple and a shrine dedicated to Uma Maheshwar in one another's loving embrace, as a testament to their eternal love.
There is a small museum as well, that is open on all days except Mondays and Central Government holidays.
Very beautiful place. And so much of history. The drive was good. People are also frequently visiting this place as a picnic spot. I took a friend with me when we were visiting my farm and she was so happy to have been here. This temple is one of a kind as it is dedicated to God kamdev, The god of love. Some of the carvings are really good. A must visit place on the northern bank of the Brahmaputra.
A good historical place. Also the picnic spot, sculptures are so nice . But the bed thing is the botanical garden is useless. Sometimes they don't give permission to go under the garden and there is no other plant than cactus.
If you want to feel peace in your life then you must visit for once .
The temple is in interior place. But once you visit, you will start falling in love with this place, because of the beautiful nature with hills and greenery surrounded by. Here you will get Ganeshji, Kamdevji and Shivji to offer your prayers .
