Lower Aguada Fort - Tourist attraction in Candolim - North Goa, India

Visiting the Lower Fort Agoda during sunset was truly a remarkable experience. The fort's location amid the sea created a surreal feeling, as if it were a part of the ocean itself. The gentle ocean breeze and the rhythmic waves effortlessly swept through the fort's premises. The strong fort structure stood resilient against the ocean's force, with waves reaching great heights and crashing against the towering walls. The ambiance was nothing short of cool and impressive. The waves' currents fiercely met the fort's walls, creating a mesmerizing seaside spectacle. The tranquil breeze complemented the serene environment, providing a calming atmosphere amidst the stunning surroundings. The presence of beautiful resorts nearby only added to the charm of the location, creating a perfect blend of natural beauty and comfortable accommodations.

Must-visit fort with no entry fees, only bike parking fees. Wear comfortable shoes as you will be doing some walking. Bring a hat and sunscreen as it can be hot in the sun. Take a camera to capture the stunning views.

While not very inviting in terms of splendor, the place is one of the important cornerstones in the history of Goa and played a very important role in the defences of Goa during the Portugese era. Agauda translates to Place of Water and according to the information available it was built to ward off or resist other European forces of that time, especially the Dutch.

The aguada fort is divided into lower and upper fort. The lower fort is easy to locate as its the road leading to the Taj Vivanta. One can enjoy great views of the blue ocean. depending on the tide the aguada beach is visible and there are water sports in season time. The lower fort had a protuding portion which leads into the sea and old world portuguese canon holes can be seen.

A wow place in goa. Built 5 centuries back to defend enemy invasion. A very pleasant place to spend time with family. Visit morning before 8 and evening after 5 to sit and enjoy the view. Worth to visit! The scenic beauty of this place is really good. You can enjoy the sea from very near of the shore. Also Taj Fort Aguada hotel is just on top of the fort.
