Being a fish keeper and aquascapist I have always loved Little Mermaid. It's a one stop/shop solution to ur need in fishkeeping and aquascaping. You find genuine and quality products. Indranil and his team are well versed with products and need of customers and share good knowledge about the hobby. Indranil is experienced in aquascaping and is well informed about the plants, fishes and all the peripherals needed for aquascaping. The outlet is small but is well arranged and managed by the team. You generally find every product here related to the hobby or else you can always get in touch with Indranil over his WA number and he is super-prompt in replying you back. Never order a terrarium from their store or even a paludarium. They specialise in aquariums. I ordered a terrarium recently. The cost was a little above 7k. 1. They dont use plants fit for a terrarium. They use plants that survive better in an aquarium or paludarium. 2. They were very reluctant and nonchalant in the whole process, never being completely transparent about the plants or any of the details until asked again and again. The owner and staff are really nice and willing to help but those who dont engage in making terrariums and the like will not know the several incongruities and nitty gritties of it. Thus it is necessary to really do your research before entrusting such a big project. 3. They didnt have any prior projects to show me. They didnt show me the layout at all before setting it up even when I asked for it and not to mention they absolutely did not follow any of the designs I sent. The tank looked really unappealing to put it plainly. 4. I visited the shop exactly 18 hours before taking the tank from them. It was still not set up. I am a terrarium enthusiast to say the least and have watched several videos of them being made with utter attention to detail and also attended competitions. I got their contact through sources who also attend such competitions and never have I ever seen such a thing being made in such short notice. 5. Due to the heat wave and the light setting all the plants ended up dying within two weeks of setting it up. 6. Two weeks. 7k gone to waste in 2 weeks. While I agree it was due to the heat wave why would they have such a drastic reaction. Especially when its a self sustaining system. Now I am expected to pay extra if I want to fix the tank. 7. This is not their area of expertise and perhaps they should try and listen a bit more to their client's concerns. Its not easy to whip out such an amount without a lot of thinking. 8. The work was genuinely horrendous. I am having to remake the whole thing. Never making this mistake of trusting the wrong people again.

My key takeaways after having frequented the S.R Das road shop thrice. 1. All over get up: The store is compactly set up but one faces the inconvenience of having to open their shoes every time they enter which is highly unfeasible and inconvenient to consumers on the go. The owner should make necessary arrangements to solve the same. 2. Service: The store owner is well behaved and accomodating but his primary assistant has a very haughty attitude reeking of arrogance. I remember having gone in the owner's absence requesting the assistant to fetch me some rock salt to treat my fish and he rudely remarked that they only sell aquarium salt and should go to a departmental store instead. (naturally anyone with common sense would visit a pet shop to buy products that are niche and specifically catered to their animals and not the ones used in day to day life). I also noticed that the owner exercised preferential treatment based on his perception of customers which is very unfair in my opinion. 3. Products: The shop houses a variety of fish and an assortment of products but I'd advice any new hobbyist to visit the shop only after doing their homework. I purchased a few plants (mainly Anubias and Java fern and they held up pretty nicely). Now here is the flip side, i got two baloon platies and they were infected with gill fluke and other parasites. The owner quoted a price of Rs. 150 per piece (which is comparatively steep in terms of market price to those sold in other online and offline chains). The owner could contend that the same price is reflected due to the premium value or novelty attached to product but that argument would fall in shambles because the fish were exhibiting signs of infection which show poor quality of the livestock in itself. This accounts for GROSS FAILURE in the adherence of basic industry standards of quartining and selling healthy fish followed by most fish traders world wide. Lastly, the owner might contend that I as buyer should have exercised the principle of caveat emptor (buyer must beware) but that would again be a wrongful premise to adhere to in this case as such transactions often happen on mutual trust/fiduciary relations. Conclusion: All over very dissapointed by the quality of service afforded in this shop. I would request the store owner to hire competent staff who know how to cater to clients instead of posing to be Fish Pundits and acting out in a whimsical and capricious fashion. Secondly, would advice the owner to sell healthy livestock and do something about having to open shoes everytime.

Premium quality food and all the fishes are soo healthy. Behaviour of the owner is really polite. Water quality is maintained properly. Very reasonable price. This is the ultimate destination for a fish lover.
