Old rickety boat, dicey food.... But the staff, very polite..... An expensive but bad trip

We booked one of their 3 bedroom houseboat for 29th April for an overnight cruise. We were disappointed. They said they will give paneer or thooran in the dinner for vegetarian people but they haven't provided that and when we asked them, they said they can't cook less than 3 people though I have told them there will be 2 vegetarians two days back. We told them we will be leaving in the morning around 8.30 because of the train timings and they didn't mention anything about the morning cruise and we couldn't have that one. There were two people on the boat, both of them were not cooperative at all. During booking i asked whether there will be any arrangements for fishing, they said that there are fishing hooks on the boat but when we asked during the cruise they said they don't have. They didn't anchor near any toddy shop as they mentioned. If you book here don't expect too much.

Very good food. Friendly staff. Beautiful views. If you have any food restrictions please let them know ahead of time. They were very good to have food that worked with my requests. Cost of the trip was very affordable. The boat is close to 7-8 years old and its age shows. Getting the sound system to play on Bluetooth took some effort. There is no speakers on the top deck. The air conditioner was not working. Although we were fine without it, it would have been nice to cool down if we really wanted to.

First time I was trying the House boat and it's (lakeland cruise ) a best option we have choosen. Its a great experience , it's located in main area and easily accessible. Parking facility is also available. Food and the Boat ride was great. Also the rate is less when compared to other house boats. Around 5.30pm the boat will be stopped and Nearby Alappuzha beach is there evening time we can go and spend some time there.

I did not have such a good experience with a houseboat. No hygiene at all. Cleaning was not done, TV was not working, ACs were not working, only 1 remote for 3 ACs. Bedrooms were not having door locks, all of them were broken. Even the washroom exhaust was broken and not working. The kitchen was the worst. There were cockroaches and lizards in the kitchen. The name of the boat was sight seer. The cook was behaving rudely after we refused to take ayurvedic massage that he recommended(for his commission). Staff don't seem to be helpful or empowered.

The air conditioner was on when we got on the boat and the general experience was excellent. Food was very good and the service was awesome.

Don't ever ever believe what you see on YouTube on the scenery, food and facilities. It so happens that I checked in today 27 Aug 2923 together with Wify with high expectations. I know that it is as a hot season but was told that there would be air con around the boathouse and bed room. Yes there was air con units around but was strictly told that it would come on at 9pm onwards. We suffered. Thought of taking a cool shower and this was restricted by lack of water and water pressure. Still suffered with being sticky with sweat. If I had any amorous intention with my Wify here can forget it. The room is like an oven as the windows were closed shut. The scenery is nothing to shout about. Boating around the river up and down. Food is mediocre at best. I will not be recommending this place and trip to my friends and relatives. Better think of a cooler place or time. Regrets I have as common sense would have dictated that air con should be turned in upon request and this could have been priced in.

Stayed in a private Houseboat for a night during our vacation in Kerala.Houseboats looks beautiful from outside only but it's upsetting when you go inside.Rooms are in bad patch , bed and washroom is stinky . Hygiene is definitely a concern over . Food served is only well mentioning and good . Morning Cruise will give you a good view . Overall Alleppey is overhyped place in Kerala , not worth spending whooping money in Houseboats , better stay in Hotels in the banks of Lake .
