The scenic flight from Delhi to Leh is amazing, you have snow capped mountains and glaciers which you seem to touch, it is one of the highest airports in the world at an elevation of 3,256 m (10,682 ft) above mean sea level. The airport is small and it seems a little under military control but we had no problems. It is the gateway to to Ladakh region and the Himalayan Mountain Range, the landing and takeoff are incredible as you seem to toubh the mountains. It has only one terminal that operates only domestic flights, but it seems a new terminal and facilities are under construction,

This is a defence airport, opened for domestic public use since last few years, beautiful and one of the deadliest airports in India. Landing of flights are fully depended on weather conditions *(if AIRINDIA doesn't fly it's flight no other airlines will fly at that particular day/time). Flight delay/rescheduling/cancellation is very common about this airport so plan your trip accordingly (keep 2-3 days in buffer) Amazing experience though

Leh Airport is a gateway to the mesmerizing beauty of Ladakh. The experience here was exceptional. The airport is small but efficient, and the staff is courteous. The views of the Himalayas during the landing are breathtaking. This is basically a defence airport and new airport is under construction. The facilities might be basic, but given the remote location, it's understandable. Very less flights available and do Plan early for better airline fare or else you will endup payment exorbitant prices . Air india is operating in a day time only .. Overall, a seamless entry point to an unforgettable adventure in Ladakh!

The scenic flight from Delhi to Leh takes one and a half hours. Try to get a window seat so that you can contemplate the wonderful bird's eye view of the Himalayan snow-clad mountains. Flights are only in the morning because it gets usually windier in the afternoon. Leh airport remains operational for all 12 months of the year though flights are sometimes delayed or cancelled in winter due to bad weather conditions. In summer, flights are very reliable. The official name of Leh airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport and its IATA code is IXL. It is one of the highest airports in the world at an altitude of 3,500 metres above sea level and you should spend the first day acclimatizing in Leh before heading to higher altitude. Leh airport is a military airport, therefore the security is tight and a printout of your e-ticket can be required when going through the security checks. Just outside the terminal, you can easily find a taxi to drop you at your hotel. Leh city centre is only 4 km away from the airport and a prepaid taxi costs approximately Rs 600.

I wish I could say better things But the airport doesn't looks like airport, needed much improved in terms of customer satisfaction and onboarding. The interior of the airport is however a reflection of the authentic wood from ladakh but there is so much room for improvement

It's a base level airport managed by Indian Military and they provide services as they can and it has base level toilet and not that much clean but they were maintaining as they can but it has limited number of toilets, and it is a domestic airport Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport is one of the highest commercial airports in the world situated at 3,256 meters above the sea level. Leh Airport falls under high-security zone therefore handbags on the flights from this airport are not allowed.

Leh Airport is very small, need to ride a bus to get on and off from aircraft. foreigner needs to fill immigration form while waiting for baggage, for the form actually you can prepare in Indira Gandhi Airport. make sure before landed your clothes are suitable with the weather, if need to go to toilet in IXL I warn you the water is so cold
