Komalapuram Spinning and Weaving Mill is the reformed form of Kerala Spinners Limited which was inaugurated in the private sector in1964. It is said that the company suffered loss and therefore it was shut down in 2003 which was the beginning of the destruction of the company. It was declared a sick unit by the government after a lapse of three years in 2006. Again after five years the company was taken over by the government in 2011and was under the management of Kerala State Textiles Corporation Ltd ( KSTC ). It was at this time that the company was renamed as Komalapuram Spinning and Weaving Mills. Though the company was inaugurated no remarkable progress has been made till date.The former Kerala Spinners from the date of inauguration till the date of shut down was really flourishing for about two decades. Employees and labourers were getting comparatively better wages and they were leading a life of status and dignity. Workers from far off districts who came here gained job in this company, owned land and settled here. The lonely village of Komalapuram became lively.All their dreams shattered away with the closing of this company. What was the reason behind this U turn..Was it an avaricious bargaining of the labourers or so-called loss incurred to the company or profit motive intermediate leaders..
