Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare .... Come here in faith and for the peace of being at the almighty's feet. The wood from the sacred jackfruit tree here was used for making the idilol of Govindaji at Imphal. Do keep in mind that there are timings for the temple, specially if u r coming in the afternoon it is likely to be closed.
Also spelt Koina, this temple is a beautiful and famous religious shrine of Manipur. It's on a hillock elevated to a height of 921 m above sea level. It is located 29 km away from Imphal, the capital city of Manipur. It is a peaceful place gifted with a picturesque location. Here one feels in harmony with nature.
There is a beautiful Shri Govindaji temple nestled on this hillock whose foundation was laid by the Maharaja Jai Singh who had deep faith in Lord Krishna. The shrine is carved out in a jack fruit tree. The legend goes that one night Lord Govindaji appeared in the dream of the Maharaja and asked him to built a shrine dedicated to Sri Govindaji. It was to be carved out of jack fruit tree which once grew here.
It is a temple of govindaji. The grand fist (ushop) is mainly done in here. If you want you can contact their pujaries....
It is a nice place to visit.

At kaina gate cool but need upgrade
I'm giving 3 stars because the temple surroundings even though was very green and peaceful, was littered with empty water plastic bottles everywhere starting right outside the temple gate. It would do good if the management could provide dustbins around the temple and proper waste management.
Wow! If you want to get a refresh mind with connection of the God I will suggest this place. Fresh air with hilly area and terrace cultivation. With diverse community stay together here around this. Service is good. Trees with orchids were also available. You can see the scenic beauty in the month of July to September.
