The construction of the mosque was completed in 1929, and it was officially inaugurated by Sir Ross Masood, the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University at that time. The mosque was named Jama Masjid, which means "Friday Mosque," because it was primarily intended to serve as a place of worship for the university's students and staff. The mosque features impressive Mughal architecture with a beautiful marble facade and intricate carvings. The main prayer hall can accommodate up to 2,000 worshippers and has a spacious courtyard for congregational prayers. This is so beautiful that no can ignore it. Its design is similar of Delhi Jama masjid. People from very long distance come here to see this. It is located between Sir Syed Hall (South) and Sir Syed Hall (North) in ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY, ALIGARH. ONE MUST VISIT HERE TO SEE ONE OF THE OLDEST ARCHITECT...

My visit to Jama Masjid at Aligarh Muslim University was a captivating experience. The mosque's magnificent Mughal architecture, spacious prayer hall, and serene courtyard left me in awe. I witnessed the sense of community and devotion during prayer times, and the intricate calligraphy and designs showcased the mosque's cultural richness. It was a memorable visit that highlighted the unity and cultural heritage of the university.

Jama Masjid AMU campus, Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh Jama Masjid is one of the oldest structures established in the erstwhile Mohammedan Anglo-Oriental College campus ( now Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh) .The construction of the mosque was started in 1879 by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan ( founder of the university ) and opened publically in 1915.The mosque is almost a prototype of the historic Jama Masjid in Shahjahanabad, Delhi.The only difference is in scale and magnitude.

This Masjid was Built by Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. A beautiful view from road adjacent to Wellington pavilion(cricket ground). Entire surah Fajr has been written on the iwan(Central arch). Whole interior of the masjid is decorated by Quranic ayat. On the north side of masjid courtyard (sahn), Sir Syed Ahmed Khan qabar is there.
