Indian museum was built in 1814 by the British.. It is the ninth oldest museum in the world and oldest and largest museum in India as well as in Asia. It has rare collection of fossils, coins, skeleton, ornaments, antiques, historical paintings etc.. The most beautiful thing is Egyptian history and real mummies.. Many rare and unique specimen are preserved here.. This place is definitely a great place for history enthusiasts and children.. It is a very well maintained museum.. You need whole day to cover it properly.. No need to buy tickets in advanced!! Takes extra charge for photography!! However photography is not allowed in some restricted areas.. I highly recommend visiting this place to explore India's glorious history..
This museum speaks volumes about our Indian Heritage and Culture. It's a beautiful amalgamation of the past and the present geographical, cultural, and artistic beauty of India. You must deposit your bag (if any) at the entrance and it is free of cost. There is a souvenir shop inside in case you need to buy one. Some sections of this museum forbid photography but others are accepting.
The Indian museum is a very nice and informative place. plenty of archaeological findings are well placed there. a wide variety of animals skeleton is there for children education purpose. pros - if you want to know the history of india in a brief manner and selective monuments information, do visit. cons - no lift for elderly visitors and not well maintained. cleanliness is absent in ground floor.
Not really happy with the experience. The museum itself appears like a historical ruin in dire need of proper maintenance. There are betel nut juice stains on the wall in the corner of the staircase. If visitors are doing that then they should be heavily penalized. CCTV footage should be properly monitored by the concerned personnel. The plaster has come off from many places along the main stairs. The artefacts are covered with dust. The invaluable mummy box is sealed using common brown packing tape. The lawn is extremely ill maintained. It can be developed in a garden or park but it is just a grassy patch with a water hose in the middle of it which absolutely spoils the aesthetic appeal of the lawn. The displayed items need to be cleaned and dusted. The flooring is damaged. The walls and doors are damaged. It just looks like a derelict structure. Some interactive digital kiosks were installed but on clicking there are no videos and no data available. Visiting the museum feels like visiting a historical structure which is gradually transforming itself into a ruin because of lack of maintenance. A very sorry state of affairs indeed. I would not visit again.
This museum is a treasure trove of knowledge and culture. Its exhibits are thoughtfully curated, offering a captivating journey through history, art, and science. The attention to detail and presentation are commendable, making every visit a truly enriching experience. Whether you're a history buff, art enthusiast, or a curious mind, this museum has something to pique your interest. The well-informed staff adds to the experience by providing valuable insights and answering questions. The only downside might be that one visit isn't enough to fully appreciate all that this museum has to offer. It's a must-visit destination for anyone seeking to expand their horizons and explore the wonders of human creativity and heritage.
A very good place for those who explore historical things, culture etc. But there are many things which are not properly maintained. For example the room in which all kinds of fish and birds were not maintained properly. Lack of light you can't even see the things clearly. They should look into this. There is a cafeteria behind the museum where you must try it. The taste and price were really good. Overall a good experience.
The Indian National Museum is a captivating institution that showcases the rich tapestry of India's history and culture. Its extensive collection of artifacts, art, and historical items provides a fascinating journey through the country's heritage. The museum's well-organized exhibits make it a must-visit for anyone interested in India's diverse past and vibrant traditions.
Pretty nice environment with plenty of departments to observe. I'd recommend brushing up your history knowledge before coming here, because otherwise you won't understand the significance of most of the exhibits. The architecture is especially impressive.
