My interests emanated owing to RK Laxman's & Shankar's innumerable Caricatures in the Public domain. The Indian Institute of Cartoonists (IIC) is a must visit for all enthusiasts of Cartoons. It has set up a Gallery for displaying Cartoons & Caricatures from all over the World in Bangalore which is also a meeting point and for networking by all young talents & veterans alike. IIC is the brain child & made possible due to timeless efforts of Cartoonist V G Narendra who not only conceived the idea but has passionately nurtured this Gallery single-handedly for now 16 years with absolute love & care. Hats-off to his dedication & relentless pursuit. Eminent Cartoonists from all over the World have already displayed their works from time to time by invitation & voluntarily. I was keen to learn that many youngsters within India & Globally have carried out their research assignments here. During my visit to this Gallery yesterday (22 July 2023) found the amazing collections of nineties by Cartoonist Enver Ahmed on display. This display has been excellently curated by Dr. Ritu Gairola Khanduri who teaches in Dept of Sociology & Anthropology, Univ of Texas (Arlington) USA. The current display is Open for Public till 5th Aug 2023. Get connected with Cartoons & Caricatures at IIC, Bangalore. This can add a new dimension to your life.
Small but interesting gallery. The staff and manager are very friendly and tell you a lot about cartoons and cartoonists. They have regular exhibitions, get the info on their website
It's a nice place displaying art with humour. But it's really small. They have a new theme every now & then, keeps changing the display...about 50 something cartoons to see. And they have a membership too. But I didn't find a guide when I went there to explain. You can stop by to appreciate the art, very near Trinity metro station
This is one hall in the basement of a building. It is mainly for cartoon enthusiasts. I recommend a visit to understand and enjoy the cartoons and appreciate the efforts that went in. There is also a small library where you can refer to books related to cartoonists and cartoons.
India first cartoon exhibition ,every week they put out new cartoons ,when I visited the theme was " Avoid plastic save earth " , from all over India expressed there views , nice gallery . Every week different theme .
India's best cartoonist cartoons will be showcased here. Best place to visit if you are a art lover. Regular cartoon exhibitions and programs will be conducted here. Even interested people can go and learn here.
Visited this small gallery in Feb 2021. It is located in the basement area of a building off MG Road. When we visited, an international female illustrator's work was on display. Some were cute, some were thought-provoking, some others funny. All the exhibits were well-lit. The place was clean, had seating arrangement and the entry was free. There was also a washroom in the premises. I wish the place gets a good footfall. I will visit again if in the area.
Worth to go there, if you are a fan of art . We can spend 20-30 minutes.
