Hotel Sri Arulmuthu Residency - Lodging in Madurai - default, India

Sitting outside the room in the open corridor was more pleasant than being inside the room. We checked into room 505 at 7.30 pm. 1. Ac non functional - After about waiting for 2 hrs to cool the room as mentioned by the staff, we found that ac was non functional. Went ahead to the reception to complain about it (he agreed to change the room in an instant, as if he was aware that AC was non functional). We further moved to room 503. 2. Unhygienic room and cockroaches- Post moving into room 503, we found the room dirty with strands of hair at places (of previous occupants), to our dismay we found two cockroaches roaming inside the room. Hope the hotel administration looks into this and rectify it.

Booked a triple bedroom. Clean and neat bedroom & bathroom. A/c performance is good and room has bed room bedsheet and towel looks faded ( lost brightness) since not renewed for longtime . toiletries provided for single person whereas room has been booked for 3 person which has to be worked upon . The room is adequate for 3 members of the family provided with Ro water. Hotel has ample car parking facility. Safe for families to stay with walkable restaurants and bakeries to procure items. The hotel is nearby to the main railway station, bus stand and well connected by auto and bus. Recommend to stay if u prefer a budget hotel with safe and good amenities. My overall experience was good. Yes, it is safe to stay.

Pros: * Clean rooms in a decent location. Also very near Sree Sabarees vegetarian hotel. * Wide parking area available, sufficient for 8-10 cars. * Proximity to Madurai Meenakshi Temple (3.5 kms). * Offers car washing service for Rs150. * Close to Madurai Railway Station. Cons: * Rude hotel staff with poor customer service. * Small sized old rooms with noisy air conditioning. * No elevator and steep staircase not suitable for elder guests. * Inconsistent room cleaning service. * Lack of nearby restaurants except Sree Sabarees Veg Hotel.

Overall Good hotel to stay with an old building charm. It looks like an old building that has been converted into hotel, not sure about the history though. From customer standpoint here are the pros & cons of the property. Pros- 1) The property is on the main road and is around 2 km from Meenachi Amman Koil (principal temple in Madurai). 2) All modes of transportation are easily available and Autos will charge around 120-150 to ferry to temple. 3) The property does not have any in-house restaurant, and the menu in the room is more towards, food that they can procure from outside. 4) There are both veg & non veg options available within 50-100 mtrs from hotel premises, so one does not need to travel too far for food. 5) The hotel has adequate parking space at the back of the property and parking is safe and secure. 6) In terms of hotel amenities, water dispenser is available on each floor (2 floors in total). Large bathroom with 24hr hot water was available and AC was also working fine. Basic toiletries were provided. 7) Beds are large enough to accommodate 3 adults, cable was also ok, TV set is bit old and small. 8) Hotel staff was courteous and helpful with any needs. Cons- 1) No Lift in the property, and stairs are steep and narrow, will be an issue for senior citizens or people with knee related problems. 2) This is more of a civic issue, but during the days we stayed, there was some issue with public drainage and all the water was on the road on which the property is situated, but no issue of smell in the hotel. Overall it's a good stay with easy access to places of interest and enough restaurants & ATM's nearby. Just one needs to be mindful of the steps and inconvenience to elderly citizens if one gets room in 1st floor.

We had a comfy stay and enjoyed it. The Room was a bit small and compact but it was clean and had all the necessary amenities. The bathroom was also clean. The parking lot can accommodate 10-12 cars and it is safe as well. The location is easily accessible and easy to find out. There are a couple of good restaurants available within walking distance. Auto rickshaws are available in front of the hotel to take you to the temple.

Hotel staff is very rude. They don't know how to talk with customer. I urge not to book this hotel. You have many other good option in the city but don't book the hotel here. They will talk as if we are staying here without paying them. Waste reception staff during night shift.

Overall, I had a great experience with Hotel Sri Arul Muthu Residency. Staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. The room was wonderful, clean, and well maintained. There is a beautiful garden where one can spend some quality time. Sabareesh veg restaurant is nearby (at walking distance). There are non-veg restaurants as well as tea shops nearby. The hotel looks great from outside as well as inside. It's just a few kilometres away from railway station.

Room was ok.But there was dust on the floor not properly cleaned .Bathroom was clean.Provided toiletries,towels,water.
