Himalayan Botanical Garden - Featured Reviews (1940)
If you enjoy botany and entomology, then this is a good place to spend some time. There is a good collection of plants (that will grow in this area and climate) and that strangely includes several varieties of CACTUS !!! There is a separate museum (within the premises, same ticket) that houses different types of insects (stick insects, grasshoppers and several types of beetles) and different types of seeds.
But, be prepared to WALK as it is spread all over the mountainside and the steps in some places are just ROCKS (especially the way to the cactus domes -- the big round globe things you can see from far away).
Do check the open/close times in advance as it is run by the local horticulture department.
-1 for maintenance of washrooms. Too too dirty. No lights. No cleaners available. This is a tourist attraction where people are charged to enter so basic washroom cleaning is expected.
Rest everything about the place is good. Just bear in mind that a lot of stairs have to be climbed to reach on top/near domes. Nicely maintained. Good amount of plants/flowers present. Some were not correctly labelled though but it can happen.
A must visit place around Nainital. There is an entry fee of 50 rupees and it's totally worth the money. The place is neatly maintained and the staff are very polite to explain things around. The variety of plants is huge and I f your are a nature lover, you will experience pure bliss experiencing variety of plants including cactuses. There is a co-located museum for insects and butterflies too. There is parking space available in front of entrance also and there won't be much crowd usually during weekdays. The view point at the top of the garden is very picturesque.

With a wide variety of plants this botanical garden is a beautiful hanging out trip in itself. There is a small insect museum, fern garden and cactus green houses apart from the beautiful gardens across the hilly terrain
It's a good place for a short hangout... they have a nursery and a insect museum. The ticket cost u around 50 rs
Very beautiful collection of plant species. Local & Himalayan flora have been grown here. Very good to place to visit especially from the perspective of biologists, nature lovers & common people too.
Only drawback is climbing up & down the steps since it is on a hill slope, which may be difficult for kids or few people. Various & unique colourful flowers are the main attractions.
Also has and Butterfly/Insect Museum.
