Temple is very nice and the ambience is also very nice. But the pillar is not hanging. Small part of one side is rested on ground. Only in other side you can see the gaps. Technically speaking, its not a floating / hanging pillar.
One pillar out of 70 pillars is a hanging pillar, which means it does not touch the ground anywhere. But it does touch and that was due to the British explorers; they wanted to see how the pillar was put at the first place so they did some experiments and tried to shake it. While doing that this pillar got slightly dislocated and now touching a bit under the base.
