Temple filled with stories from the past. I couldn't enter into the main due to accessibility issues. Difficult for wheelchair travel inside the temple. Has a good ramp in the entrance

Lepakshi is a fascinating place with many remarkable attractions. One of the main highlights is the Veerabhadra Temple, known for its intricate carvings and stunning architecture. It's a place that takes you back in time and leaves you in awe. One of the most unique features of the Veerabhadra Temple is the famous "hanging pillar." It's a pillar that doesn't touch the ground completely. It's astonishing to see how it defies gravity and remains suspended in the air. It's a true marvel of engineering and craftsmanship. Apart from the temple, Lepakshi has other places of interest as well. Lepakshi is a place where history and spirituality come alive. Exploring its rich heritage and cultural treasures is a rewarding experience. If you have an interest in ancient architecture and unique attractions, Lepakshi is a destination worth visiting.

As a Structural Engineer I was analyzing how it was suspended from the roof beam without any rigid fixation. Amazing construction technology of that time.

Temple is very nice and the ambience is also very nice. But the pillar is not hanging. Small part of one side is rested on ground. Only in other side you can see the gaps. Technically speaking, its not a floating / hanging pillar.

One pillar out of 70 pillars is a hanging pillar, which means it does not touch the ground anywhere. But it does touch and that was due to the British explorers; they wanted to see how the pillar was put at the first place so they did some experiments and tried to shake it. While doing that this pillar got slightly dislocated and now touching a bit under the base. The other attractions at Lepakshi temple, also known as Veerbhadra temple are: Mata sita foor print Veerabadra temple Vishnu temple Papanasewara temple Bharakali tmple Hanumanlinga temple Ramalinga temle Mural pantings Naga linga Monolithinc Ganesha
