Without a doubt my only reason for visiting Gwalior was the Gwalior Fort and it proved to be one of the best decisions. It's rich in culture, history and the fort itself is a sheer beauty to the eyes. Carry lots of water and wear sunscreen, if possible travel in winters rather than summers. In the evening it's an experience all together. A must visit in your Gwalior itinerary.
Mesmerising architecture of this magnificent fort. There are guides easily available and best if you visit early in the morning as there is less crowds.Guides will help you to navigate, the also tell the history of some places and even show some unknown things that can't be spotted easily. While you're here at this big sandstone structure don't forget to visit the surrounding places in the hill
This is one of the best places to visit in Gwalior. This ancient fort has great historical values and needs your time to understand. Situated at the centre of the city so reaching here is very easy. I would say to come via own vehicle or book a van. The sunset is so soothing and a great place for children. A must visit tourist place.
Wonderful architecture..has a great historical importance...good parking area.. nearby attractions are siddhanchal jain temple caves, Teli ka mandir, sahasra bahu temple(sas bahu temple).. try to avoid visiting during summer..
A must visit if you are in Gwalior. Look for Urvai Gate on the map for directions. Guides are easily available. I would recommend hiring one. Helps in navigating the place quickly in addition to the historical information. A full circuit costs around 1000-1200 Rs.
Time required to explore 2-3 hours.
Gwalior Fort is one of the most prominent landmarks in the city. Explore the Man Singh Palace, Gujari Mahal, and the iconic Saas Bahu Temples within the fort.
Visit early morning or late afternoon to avoid a huge crowd. It would take 3-4 hours to thoroughly explore the fort.
Great architecture that a fort to have.
But no maintenance by ASI.
Bats are everywhere smells piss and urine so badly that you can't go further in.
Trash everywhere and broken bits and pieces of glass(bear bottles) everywhere.
Couples making out it's like an open Oyo.
Needs to maintain well and clean so can be treated our history well.
Note- Must visit Jain Statues.
A must visit for the tourists when in Gwalior.
There are many Palaces in the enclosure. Tickets are available at the counter.
One get a lovely view of the city Gwalior from the top of the fort.
