Vimaan Nagar is host to a new exciting establishment. One whose likes Pune has never seen before. I must say, I have never had food like this. Every ingredient is sourced locally and every component of every dish made from scratch. That includes the tofu! It just blows your mind. I would go so far as to say that I am afraid of having tofu anywhere else now because of the benchmark set by them. The clean ingredients without any additives and preservatives elevate the taste of every dish to an explosion of flavors. Another aspect of their food is that they cook only the items that are in season and grown in a specific radius. As what they source is what you taste, it is sometimes a pleasant surprise to find what a certain ingredient tastes like. This is quite unlike a lot of other establishments where the real taste is hidden under heavy masalas and masked with flavorings. What Ground Up serves is food the way nature intends us to have it. This care and attention to detail produce dishes with star ingredients, creatively reimagined and served with a flair. Service is extremely attentive yet gives privacy at the right moments. Every dish is a must try but my personal favorites this season have been the Skillet Millet Rice, Smoked Tofu Banh Mi, Fried Tofu with Togarashi and in dessert the Kaalbhaat Rice Pudding with Guava Sorbet. Ground up serves some of the most flavourful food I've come across in a while. The Vietnamese Ban Mih sandwich's were outstanding. Chicken Tacos too. Quantities are small so you will need to order more than you would elsewhere. But the prices are reasonable. It's worth a visit.

I went here for dinner last night and the food was fantastic. From their tacos & banhmis's to their seasonal specials, the food was made with local ingredients and was beautifully balanced. What I loved the best is the number of things they made from scratch, including their cheese, masa, tofu and sauces - Unarguably this is Pune's best !

Delicious food, cosy place, reasonably priced. One of the owners, Rohan, guided us through the menu, we had a great time. The potato salad is particularly interesting and made for great comfort food. Everything was great, honestly, but in particular the Banh-mi (which I didn't get a picture of) was fantastic. Will revisit.

Experts involvement while choosing herbs, micro-greens and fruit, Here Expert I intended to say PRO-level who know all nity-gritty of plants...( I can't recall, what do we call those specialists ... but yes ! I am referring to them... hmm ...) Travel & Books: Explored medieval cooking method across the country.Learned, experimented and afterwards implemented and now spreading that information alongside that taste through their dishes. I'm truly, not at that level where I judge their tasted food, although I would recommend you all to visit them and try their Dishes, each Dish has got his own story and its very own ingredients. What all we tried? Black beans Tostada, smoked chilli and tomatillo salsa, fresh raw milk cheese, Crema. Potato salad, strawberry vinegar Soy milk broth egg noodles / Smoked Chicken bone broth Pork Banh Mi/chicken banh mi / Smoked tofu banh mi Silken tofu with naga peppercorn oil, sweet soy. Sourdough ice cream, fresh fig, olive oil / Black sesame and peanut milk pudding guava sorbet. And paid only 1000 bucks per head. Special deal for PEOple Connect which happened on 01st Jan 2020. Few Highlights Lots of base ingredients are flame-broiled and smoked to get that earthly flavor. They have a dedicated section "The Fermentation Station" I would say that is totally #priceless. #Must #Tour . Great food, great beverages, the chef here is one of the best people I've met till yet, humble yet very sensitive when it comes to her food. The atmosphere is nice, cozy and chill, the staff too is really nice.

Just when you think you now know 0.005% more about food, this meal today at Ground Up at Viman Nagar hits you one tight slap and gets you back to ground zero. Mark my words PEOple you'll need to unlearn everything you know about food, textures, combinations, presentation, taste, produce, and cooking techniques and then re-learn them after a meal at Ground Up. Such is the experience post this meal that all I can do is keep bragging about what I ate to my other foodie friends and earn bragging rights about everything i learnt here today. If you'll haven't yet tried the food here I am telling you that you're missing something really good, honest straight from the heart, and food that's an eye opener for even the seasoned foodies and professionally trained food experts and for foodies like me who are just learning to walk and take baby steps this is one meal I am going to remember all my life. What a way to begin this year'with the first meal so good....looking forward to having wonderful experiences all year round now. PS.
