Green Lawn Cottage - Cottage in Bara Mungwa, Darjeeling - Kalimpong, India

In the midst of an orange orchard and other plants grown here is a simple cottage which is very comfortable with a western washroom and 2 cots. The hosts are very friendly, sweet and hospitable. The food here is pure veg and very yummy. With a balcony which has a few chairs, the view from here is very awesome. Every moment the view is different whether it is sunny, misty, cloudy or rainy. The atmosphere here is very calm away from the hustle bustle of the busy city. Looking forward to visit again in the future.

I visited this place with my husband and daughter in mid April(2023). It was an absolute delight. The kind of vacation i had dreamt of ..quiet,serene, the entire location is filled with natural beauty and most important is the presence of amazing hosts. While Karan took care of our sight seeing providing us the most comfortable journey all around Darjeeling,his parents and wife ensured our comfort and sumptuous home cooked food. Their vast property is full of different kind of vegetation and Karan's father who is a walking encyclopaedia on botany and its various human uses took pleasure to tour us around, which indeed was once in a lifetime opportunity for us. I must mention thier well trained pet dogs who touched our hearts with their naughty activities. For natural waterfalls lovely little girl Diviya gave us a guided tour. A must visit place.

Awesome location to spend couple of nights, if you can reach the place. Without personal vehicle or reserved car, it will be difficult to reach this place. As of 2022 May, there were no eateries nearby. You will have to depend on the food given by your homestay. Here in Green Lawn Cottage, we had some of the best veg food and for rhe first time I had Dalle chilli. We booked though AirBnb. Considering the location, price for bed only for 2 person was on the higher side, but I think 4 persons can stay there for the same price in which case the price is justified. 3 time veg food per head was extra and too costly.

What a place.... You are just sitting in the lap of nature. The entire premise is so beautiful that you don't need any other place to click pics. You can visit there farm house and see almost all types of fruits tree and vegetables Mr. Karan and his mother is excellent host. You will be served with vegetables and salad of their own farm.

All the good/great reviews are absolutely true. Karan's Green Lawn Cottage is a must 'Home-Stay' visit while around Darjeeling/Kalimpong. He has a beautiful property, with two lovely pet dogs Raksha and Kenzo. They literally welcomed us, showed us around and bid us adieu personally! We also met Karan's loving family. His mom especially, cooked absolutely delicious home-made food like she must be cooking for her own family. The rooms and premise were well kept too. We highly recommend this place for its natural beauty, Karan's and his family's warm hospitality, and Raksha and Kenzo's wagging tails.

It is a very nice resort about 90 minutes away from Darjeeling town.It has an excellent Garden and It has very nice view of the mountain range. Facilities are basic and the food is good. Advantage is you can see the Sunrise just 45 minutes away from the resort with absolute privacy unlike Tiger hills. If you visit Tiger Hills for the Sunrise it is very crowded and will take 4-5 hrs in the traffic.

"Excellent" - That one word can sum up this place. Located in the lap of hills and surrounded by greenery, the name of the cottage truly justifies itself. But what makes this place even more enjoyable and a "home away from home" is four lovely people who are extremely courteous and surely blow your mind with their gestures. Their yummy homemade food is simply mouth-watering. Almost all the vegetables are from their own garden which itself is a place to visit. Rooms are clean and spacious and balcony offers view of the surrounding hills. All in all, this is a must visit place, if you are eager to spend couple of days amidst nature with a simple lovely family.

The place is surreal and unbelievable. It's an experience and not a stay. You will never experience such pleasure in a hotel or resort. Never stayed so close to nature. This humble family of four have a wonderful property, spread over a few acres and have a lovely collection of fruits, vegetables, medicinal plants, animals and what not! The orchards are beautiful and you can have your share there too! Uncle was kind enough to walk us through his beautiful farms and enlightened us with his knowledge of plants. Most of the food was cooked on wood and tasted AMAZING!! Can't thank Gurung family enough for this enchanting experience. Stayed there for 1 day and was regretting our decision for not booking it for multiple days. Will go back there again. Surely!!
