An enjoyable museum of a mixed nature: modern art, ancient art, history. In a brutalist building, Corbusier-esque. Worth an hour. Explanations are thin, the display is nice. Atmosphere good. For a change, no discriminatory pricing for foreigners. That said, the peculiar, India-only extra charge for photography, still in place

The price of a ticket is Rs30 for an Indian Citizen. The place has been restored and maintained very nicely. You can easily spend 1-2 hours here. Its near the Rose Garden so you can also visit there.

Good place to visit, there are 3 museums within the premise which gives an insight into the pre-history and modern history of the civilizations alongside the Chandigarh Architecture museum which provides details on the Chandigarh city planning.

A must visit while in Chandigarh. Very conveniently located and ample parking available. You can see the idols from as old as 2nd century. Entry ticket for visitors above 18 years is Rs.30/-. If you wish to click you have to pay extra. Sharing a few of the pictures I could manage to take before I learnt that the charges for photography are extra.

Government Museum and Art Gallery has a unique collection of Gandharan artefacts in the world. In the museum ancient and mediaeval era art sculptures, coins with Rajasthan miniature paintings are also beautifully showcased here. The science center is about evolution of man and dinosaurs, great experience for visitors . The Museum was inaugurated in the year 1968 by Dr. M.S.Randhawa the then Chief Commissioner, Chandigarh. The Museum has four wings of which Art gallery is most attractive one and others are Natural History, Architecture Museum and National gallery of Portraits, worth visiting. Definitely the place is interesting for those who are history lovers. Entry is free for children and students (up to 18 years). The ticket price for all nearby museums is INR 30 and for foreign nationals is INR 500. Extra chargeable for photography. No crowd, green environment, quite place !!!

Located at sector 10 C, it's an interesting place with artefacts, paintings coins of medieval India. The museum ticket is of 30 rs and covers the museum as well as the science center nearby in the same campus. Well maintained, pleasant temperature, staffs equipped with at each section. There are basic amenities like clean washroom and drinking water available. It will take minimum half hour to cover the museum and science center. The science center is about evolution of man and dinosaurs being center of attraction. Overall a good place to visit especially for young minds and people who keep keen interest on History and regional art.

No air conditioning system even in summer makes you hate this place. Take at least 2 hours if you want to see everything in the museum thoroughly. Early morning is the best time i guess. Plenty of parking is available. There were 2 museums in the compound, the government museum and art gallery and second is national history museum.
