An experience like no other! I am someone who prefers staying in homestays and camps when on the road, because staying in such spaces gives me a chance to live with the local community and understand the culture of the place, which for me are essential parts of a travelling experience. Gilehrio's Camp Umesh Manshi, located in Manshi Village of Darjeeling district, gave me a trip of a lifetime by building local experiences into my stay at their most beautiful homestay. Hosted by two of the most gracious people I have ever met - Umesh da and Bimla di - Camp Umesh Manshi is a home away from home. It's a business alright, but with the gentlest of gestures and the most matter-of-factly observations about the place and community that give a tourist an immersive experience of the surroundings, the hosts make you feel at home. The treks through the Himalayan forests are filled with minute details on the local flora and fauna, history of the forests, breathtaking views of the hills, lush tea gardens and fresh water springs - all of which give one a holistic view of the place. The food is lip-smacking delcious! Throughout my four-day stay at Camp Umesh Manshi, I was served with the choicest of local delicacies - none of which I had tested or even heard of before. Umesh da and Bimla di's cooking mixes local flavours with the more common cuisines to curate an enriching experience for your tummy. And if you are a traditionalist and want the vanilla Himalayan delicacies during your stay, fret not! Bimla di's momos and Umesh da's noodles are the tastiest home-cooked evergreens served with oodles of love. I'll look back most fondly on my early mornings and evenings. Sun rays peeping through my window, even as everything around remained appreciably cold, and falling on the beautiful marigold flowers planted in rows after rows wanted me to hold on to my mornings and somehow stop time. Bimla di's piping-hot tea was an icing on the cake. Evenings, especially the cloudy ones, with a thick layer of fog making the hills disappear behind them and the bonfire set up so meticulously by Umesh da in their humble abode made me want to stop time, again. Bonfire experience with homemade local drinks and the hosts' extended family made me feel like I was with my own extended family. It takes approximately three hours to reach Camp Umesh Manshi from the Bagdogra airport but the journey through the pristine hills and the quaint towns of Darjeeling district, as well as the most beautiful destination, make the journey worth its while. I came here all the way from Mumbai and given a chance I would hesitate backing my bags and setting off all over again! Thank you, Camp Umesh Manshi and Gilehrio.

Absolutely Beautiful place providing Eco-friendly & Authentic camping, the best part is community led. Villagers serve the tasty local sea food. Tankyou Gilehrio crew for the memorable experience. Visit once, you will love it guys!

Couldn't have chosen a better destination for camping being a first timer at affordable prices. The serene atmosphere, the morning view, the hospitality... Everything just fits right in. If you are a lover of nature and wants to get a step closer, then this is it.

This being my first beach camping experience, I was excited and nervous at the same time. The camp is bang on the beach with no outsiders except few care takers and 2 dogs (pets). It is secluded, clean & serene. The team Gilehrio were always on their toes for any help. Thumbs up!! Will definitely recommend to others.

Camping experience was so nice. You get to eat the local cuisine made by the locals. If you are someone who love nature and hate crowded areas, then this place is for you. Good thing about them is they make sure they don't affect the ecosystem (which is very rare nowadays) Thumbs up for the Experience. Will recommend all to visit once atleast.

Definitely one of life's best experiences. Their beach camping is the much-needed detox from urban life. Sleeping to the sound of sea waves, walking through the casuarina forest, clean and good tents with all essentials, authentic coastal food, bonfire, and the sweetest hosts! Camp Bichi Gundalba is a must visit.

You won't forget the moments and conversations you will have there. Really a soulful place to visit.
