"Gandikota", Gandi means Gorge and Kota means Fort (Fort built on the gorge). This place came into limelight because of its natural beauty, the gorge wherein River Penna flows through and got a tag as "Grand Canyon of India". Slowly and steadily it started getting popular and people from across the country started visiting this place. Now being very developed by tourism department, this place offers various stay options, adventure activities such as rappelling, rock climbing, zipline, etc. Food still might be a problem. Resorts like Haritha have their own restaurant offer great food and drinks. Just be aware of Colobinae(langur) at the view point, though they are not harmful. One can have a splendid view of the gorge with river penna flowing through and also you can view the Mylavaram Project (reservoir and dam) on the other side. These breathtaking views can't be missed when you're here. Just sit on the edge of gorge and relax.
Most of the reviews are regarding the tents but my review is for the view point itself. The view point is amazing and provides a beautiful view of the gorge. Some idiots are spoiling this beauty by throwing bottles and waste here and there but cannot do anything about them and they are always present everywhere to spoil India. Overall, this place is a must visit if coming to Gandikota. You can sit here for several minutes and enjoy the view.
amazing experience!! natures wonder...The Grand Canyon of India a must visit!! Though it's a walk on the boulders n rocks so wear good shoes, cover up yourself...
Gandikota - the Grand Canyon of India is a must visit place. Sunrise and sun sets are 2 key things that we should see during the trip to Gandikota. We stayed in the Punnami resort and this point was walkable from that place. In the early morning, amidst the rocks viewing the Pennar River and the Sun rising slowly is a magnificent sight. You go to the Gorge and pick up a nice place, sit on it and view this. This is once a lifetime experience and will treasure it for years. U recommend you go there during the afternoon, witness the sunset, rest there in the nearby place or Punnami resort, wake up in the morning, View the sun rise and head back home.
Just an amezing view point. One must visit and enjoy this rare beautiful great Indian canon .... careful with kids and elders . People who came here had destroyed the places using plastic and trash..
Idk why there are so many reviews about the campground here. This is for the view point. Calling this the "Grand Canyon of India" is a wild exaggeration. Does not come anywhere near the scale of the Grand Canyon. That said, it is nice to see India attempt to preserve such natural beauty. It was great during both sunrise and sunset. Practically deserted during sunrise. Very crowded during sunset. The Penna river was fairly full when we went - to the point where boating options were cancelled due to fast currents. There is a trail nearby that takes you down to the river. It is fairly steep with very little shade. I would recommend going very early in the day. The views on this trail are pretty great and because it is away from the roads and other people, you can hear all the sounds of nature. It gets incredibly hot. It was 43C when we went. Take lots of water.
This place is known as Grand Canyon of India. Located in Jammalamadugu village of AP. Its 390 KMS from hyderabad, one night journey. We have tent stay here to stay from Haritha Resorts. Food and alcohol are available here. Recommended to carry alcohol as it is bit costly there. Camp fire is arranged here by the management. You have a beautiful view from top of the mountain. Penna river flows from middle of these mountains We have many activities like river rafting, Trecking and others Perfect weekend spot to hang out with friends and family. A decent and well maintained place
The best and the most scenic place in the entire district which is also known as grand canyon on India where the river flows between the mountains, best time to visit is sunset and sunrise, need to walk for 1.2 kilometres from parking to reach this point, there are good no. of motels and accommodations but need to go prior bookings as it will be rush on weekends

That was a great experience "Grand Canyon of India". We can enjoy a lot here. It would be better if we reach before sunrise to View Point. Also this place has a boating facility. Even the Road to Gandikota is also excellent.
I never thought there was a Canyon in India It's beautiful and our own Indian Canyon but it's little Rocky to walk one side, need to be careful...!! Around this Canyon is a temple and a masjid you can see. I heard that there are adventurous things t
Amazingly lovely. A sea of yellow flowers surrounds the main temple, and in the morning, the area is swarming with hardworking honey bees. Due to how tourists are, there is some plastic, toffee wrappers, and chips packs scattered all over. However,

Good place to chill out. Need to be improved in terms of service and quality of food. At night it is very irritating dogs and other animals are disturbing by entering our premises. Morning breakfast is awesome. Overall enjoyed a lot.
