Not too crowded. Situated adjacent to the road and coast. Only 3km far from cellular Jail. Flag Point in Port Blair is where the Indian flag was hoisted for the first time on Indian soil. The flag was hoisted by Netaji Subash Chandra Bose on December 30, 1943.
This is a memorial created by government in memory of first tricolour flag hoisting done by netaji in 1943 in port blair. Memorial is well built with amphitheatre, mural arts, landscape and hardscape lighting. You don't need to plan a separate visit and can be done enroute corbyns cove as it is on roadside only. You would need only 5 minutes upto the time you need to stay in this tranquil location for this place as this is a small attraction but executed well with great infinity views of Ocean. Please note this is a memorial and not the actual place of flag hoisting. Actual place is near stadium but you don't need to visit there separately.
Given the great historical significance of this place, one naturally feels proud to be at Flag Point. This is the very spot where Netaji Subash Chandra Bose hoisted the Indian flag for the first time in Indian soil on the 30th December 1943.
This is the place where Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose hoisted the tricolor for the first time in 1943.The place is popularly know as Tiranga point and is exactly on the marine drive. The marine drives stretches from Andaman water sports complex in Rajiv Gandhi road till Corbin's cove beach and further. The area is a nice place for morning and evening walk. The place is more vibrant by tourist during the evening. There are few food trucks near the Flag point and serves delicious food.A must visit place for all tourist in Port Blair.Keep some time in hand and one can walk from the cellular jail after the light and sound show till the Tiranga point.Evening is pleasant but morning is better for photo shoots.
It's a view point and also a flag point. When we visited that time only the pole was there but the flag was not there. We visited in the evening so the lighting was good and we could feel the breeze. Nearby one temple is also there you can visit that also.
Beautiful place with immense historical significance. This is the exact spot where Netaji Subash Chandra Bose hoisted the Indian flag for the first time on Indian soil. The Tricolor continues to flutter gracefully ever since as if whispering the wind about the tales of Indian Independence Movement. Easily reachable via road, best time to visit is during sunset.
One of my most favourite place to visit. I recently had the privilege of visiting Tiranga Point, the historic site where the first national flag of India was hoisted by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It was a remarkable experience filled with patriotism and reverence. From the moment I arrived, the significance of the place resonated deeply. Tiranga Point is located in a picturesque seaside setting, offering breathtaking views of the sea. The windy atmosphere added an extra layer of charm, symbolizing the spirit of freedom and resilience. It was a fitting backdrop to commemorate such an important event in India's history. The lighting at Tiranga Point was excellent, creating a captivating ambiance. The well-placed lights accentuated the beauty of the surroundings and the flag itself, creating a sense of reverence and pride. It enhanced the overall experience, allowing visitors to fully appreciate the significance of the momentous occasion. The decorations and seating arrangements at Tiranga Point were tastefully done. The minicipality / designers had paid attention to detail, ensuring that the ambiance reflected the importance of the event. The combination of the historic significance, the serene seaside location, and the well-thought-out arrangements created an atmosphere of solemnity and pride. One notable aspect of Tiranga Point was the presence of "Jai Hind" written in many Indian languages. This added a touch of inclusivity and unity, highlighting the diverse cultural fabric of India. It was a powerful reminder of the shared ideals and aspirations that bring the nation together. While the experience at Tiranga Point was undoubtedly remarkable, there are a few areas that could be improved. The site could benefit from the addition of informative displays or guided tours that provide deeper insights into the historical significance of the place. This would enhance the experience for visitors who may not be familiar with the specific details of the event. Overall, Tiranga Point is a must-visit for anyone seeking a connection to India's rich history and patriotic spirit. The combination of its historic significance, the beautiful seaside location, excellent lighting, thoughtful decorations, and inclusive messaging creates a memorable and moving experience. It is a place where one can reflect on the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters and celebrate the resilience and unity of our nation.
This flag point in Port Blair is a historical significant point in the Andaman Nicobar island. Netaji Subhash Chandra bose hoisted the Indian Flag for the first time in Indian soil on 1943. Its a proud head of Andaman and its people. It is at a 10-15 minutes of walkable distance from the city centre. The place is very neat and clean and can spend evening time here. From this point we can see the view of Ross Island and North bay Island. Also, there are stone structures of our brave freedom fighters
