European Cemetery - Cemetery in Gooty - Anantapur, India

Note: Visiting the cemetery and parking are FREE. Do not pay to get in or to park. Larger vehicles may have a problem getting to the location on account of the narrow road that leads to it, house construction on the sides of the road, and because of the open gutters on the sides of the roads. The place is clean and secured by a gate. Normally opens at 8 am. The cemetery grounds were clean when I visited in early June 2018. It hosts around 60 graves from the 19th century of mostly British people, adults and children included. Many of the graves have weathered over time or have been defaced by people. Some of the inscriptions are intact (in fact, some are relatively new-- I suppose someone raised funds for this). Overall, a great historical site to visit. I hope that relevant authorities continue to main the grounds and possibly even provide some information about the history of the cemetery and the people buried there.

One of the most well maintained section of the Gooty Fort. This is a must visit if you are travelling around Gooty. Sir Thomas Munro the governor of Madras was buried here after he died of cholera.

Neatly Well maintained cemetery, important in history of british india, accessible easily from main road, if it is locked ask the nearby house people for keys, interesting dates and facts written on cemeteries, dont miss it on your jouney from bengaluru to hyderabad, just 5 kms from national highway

It's an old cementery of Europeans who invaded India and died. It also has tombs of some other European officials who served and died in 19th century. A nice place to visit though one might find it difficult to hide from rain if it rains there. (True story... We got drenched in the rain)

Historical place In Gooty . Thomas munro final resting place is the main centre of attraction . But needs proper maintenance and surveillance on it .

Good place, the fort behind is even better. Govt needs to keep it cleaner.
