What an incredible place and wonderful sight all around. A magnificent Waterfall a living double decker bridge lively cheerful sight all over. One must visit this place. A tedious trek with over 3000 stairs down but worth every effort. Words , photos or videos may not provide full justice to the amazing feeling one gets there. All the tiredness goes away taking a dip in a natural pool from the waterfall. Just sit there and enjoy the wonders of the incredible engineering of mother nature and humanity. Although this place is visited by so many people, the originality and raw nature is still preserved.
Trekking @ the unique 20 meter (65 foot) root bridge Was an Awesome memorable experience !!
Its a challenging trek but worth it!!
The trekking was approx 6km having 3500 steps one way... total 7000 challenging and steep steps to and fro ...Seven hours of journey included 5-6 hrs of walking. Descent: About 2,400 feet.
Long trekking awaits one of the beautiful human made roots beach. There is one hour trekking to rainbow waterfall from here.
Travelling back is very exhausting. Carry energy drinks and fruits. Even lemon juice is very costly.
Worthy trek of 3500+ stairs, may take 2 hours; but a lifetime achievement. While trekking, you may visit the single decker root bridge also that will take an additional 10 to 15 minutes. On the way, you will go through the sacred garden. The beauty of the rain forest will be remembered forever. It's important to know for the tourists that the bridge is closed on Sunday. The guide is not mandatory but recommended otherwise you may end up with a longer path. A stick is recommended, you can buy one easily (locally made Rs 20/-). You should carry cash and sufficient amount of drinking water. Requesting tourists not to destroy the beautiful place by throwing garbage here and there. Tourists should follow the instructions like the capacity of the bridges (max allowed person), not to destroy the plant and trees, etc.
Worth visiting a place at cheerapunji.
3000 stairs descend and ascend to the living root bridge takes around 1 to 1.5 hours to reach one way that depends on breaks and stamina. Be hydrated.
Can spend a good time here, water is flowing down the root bridge.
Not recommended for one having knee and cardiac problems.
Nature is well maintained by village people, they are very polite and understand the English language. Recommend to start early and climb up early, after sunset it's difficult to climb as no lights will be there. Climbing takes around 3hours
A mist visit attraction if you are in Meghalaya. The guide fees are a little high but you can go there without a guide. Also as most of the trek to reach the bridge is a decent, you will have a hard time getting back from the bridge, climbing the 3000 odd steps.
One of the most beautiful (but hardest) treks in Meghalaya. I feel it's something you cannot miss, just enjoying the scenic beauties on the way and finally reaching the place are sights to adore. Overall, it's one of the top places in my heart :D and I would love to do the trek again someday.
We have completed this one of the toughest trek in India.
You have to go down around 3.7k stairs and climb up the same to experience this beautiful natural bridge formed by the living root bridge
Once you reach the bridge all your tiredness will vanish seeing the beauty and you'll get to experience natural fish pedicure
Pineapples found there are yummy
Overall a mesmerising experience we had
