Dongarmatha Eco Care Resort - Home Stay in Chiplun, Dhamandevi Mohalla - Ratnagiri, India

It's one of our best stays so far, including my mother. We had an overnight stay in the last week of dec.The place, as the name suggests, is on top of a hill with lots of greenery. It's a small resort more of homestay. However, the rooms were clean and surprisingly had cow dung floor, reminiscent of my childhood days. Govekars couple were extremely friendly, homely, and knowledgeable about surroundings. The food was fair; Veg. was good. Non-veg was ok, would suggest to go for veg food only. The ride to the resort from the gate is steep and should be driven carefully. Parshuram temple is close by. In the evening, we had a short hike to watch the sunset over river vashishit, which was surreal. Mangesh even served us herbal tea there. overall, we loved our stay at dongarmatha. I visited here with my wife during a vacation in August 2022 (monsoon season). This place is absolutely divine for nature-lovers. Just 15-30 mins' drive from Chiplun, the eco resort created with sweat & efforts of Mangesh & Shraddha offer guests an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature. Parking is available at the property. Road to reach this place is quite a driving test (steep but safe) and Manges will be there to help you get through it. People who expect to find Domino's / Pizza Hut are probably not going to enjoy a lot here, but people who like 50 shades of green would LOVE this place! Pros- * Incredible, unrestricted views from the property. * Car goes till the rooms. * Village experience at its best (shenane saravleli jameen etc) * The two dogs (Chiku & Raja) are the PERFECT hosts and anyone can get along well with them. * Lots of unexplored attractions near the place like Savatsada waterfall & plenty of view points. * Since we went during MOTHS' season, we got oportunity to witness nature at its best (check out pictures with this review). * Piping hot poha & kadha we had while enjoying in the strong currents of Savatsada waterfall was one of the best culinary experiences in our lifetime. Note- * It won't be practical to dine outside while you're at this place (due to location), so you'll probably end up having all meals at the property. All in all, 100% recommended place!

Dongarmatha, a memorable experience with the pleasant and joyful stay in Chiplun - Parashuram. The owner, Mangesh and Shraddha Govekar are very kind and helpful. The entire stay was full of excitement. The farm house was well maintained. Night walk in jungle and a small treck in morning was just awesome. Food is also good and testy. It was a fun to stay at Dongarmatha. Thanks Mr Mangesh and Mrs Shraddha for such wonderful gesture.

Dongarmatha is one of the most friendly, rustic, lovely place that I have visited in recent past. What sets this place apart from others is the friendly service and the love and respect that is showered by the host. The place is isolated yet near civilization, you will get much needed privacy from usual routine and off course the mobile networks. If you are travelling from Mumbai be ready for a 6 hour drive though or you can take train too. The place also offers great food and lots of indoor activities. The trails are amazing and feast for camera happy bird watchers!!

Dongarmatha Ecocare Centre. What can I say about this place? Dongarmatha loosely translated as the crest of the hill (Dongar = Hill and matha = crest.) As the name suggests this place is truly seated on the top of a small hillock. This eco-care resort sprawls over an area of 5 acres. The place is the perfect getaway for city folks like Pune and Mumbai. It has a small rustic cottage with multiple rooms that are very cozy and extremely beautiful. Free from the city pollution and noise, it offers complete tranquility by making you a part of the nature. Free from the modern world gadgets like an AC or the TV set, you truly appreciate the nature. Who needs a TV or an AC when you can have a mesmerizing overhead view of the forest and the river while the cool forest breeze tickles as you spend your evenings in the verandah? The sweet sounds of multiple species of birds is the best music that one can hear. You can engage yourself with the nature walks on the forest trails or explore the breathtaking waterfalls near the resort. Free from the hustle and bustle of the chaotic city life, a leisurely stroll amidst nature is the best stressbuster. For me, the highlight of the trip was to spot crocodiles near the Vasishthi River which is around 10kms from the resort. Although the resort is surrounded by dense trees, its completely safe from wild animals or dangerous serpents. This place is the brainchild of Mr. Mangesh, a dedicated and hardworking environmentalist. Mangesh has himself developed and sustained this property that is nothing less than a mini forest. He's an expert on birds, critters and the wildlife. He has immense knowledge on the species of birds that visit his resort. He's an extremely good and warm host. Mangesh will guide you as your friend. Full marks to his hospitality. Expect some really delicious konkani style food over there. All the cooking is done by a local village lady, so you can be assured that its authentic. Shraddha, the better half of Mr Mangesh, supervises all the cooking job. Just like Mangesh, she is an extremely good host and friendly. While you are there you should definitely try the herbal tea. All the ingredients and herbs of the tea are inhouse. You can even buy packets of the herbal tea to take home. Apart from the herbal tea, I enjoyed the BLUE tea as well. Yes, the tea is blue in color. Special thanks to little Vyom, Mr Mangesh's kid who prepared offered us that tea. Vyom is a very sweet, well-mannered and intelligent kid who has tremendous knowledge on the surrounding flora and fauna. Lastly, this review would be incomplete without a special mention to Sumit (the helping staff) who was very soft spoken, patient, caring and hospitable. He made sure that we don't have any problems while staying there. The cool kokum sharbat that he offered was really refreshing. How to get there: There are multiple routes from Pune. Route 1: Mulshi Tamhini Mangaon Mahad Khed Dongarmatha Route 2 Via Banglore hwy: Pune Kapurhol Bhor Poladpur Kashedi Khed Dongarmatha Route 3 Via Banglore hwy: Pune Shirwal Wai Panchgani Mahabaleswar Poladpur Kashedi Khed Dongarmatha The roads are mostly good, but due to the ongoing roadwork, there are patches of rough roads in between. Expect a few ghats on all the routes.

Super place. Our second visit. Mangesh and Shraddha are gem of a person. Such a wonderful hosts. Chiku (their pet dog) is our best friend there. Area is surrounded by lots of trees, birds and flora/fauna. Mangesh is knowledgeable on lot many things and Shraddha cooks very well. A must visit in any season.

Mangesh you beauty. You have built a beautiful place to relax. Your approach to this is not a hoteliers approach but rather a guy that loves nature. Simple things make a place at this unique eco care resort special. But be advised, only if you love being amongst nature will you enjoy this place. I would love to visit again.
